Special thanks to Mary Schuder for this month's memorial photo.

I'm going to look through the archives for Toivo Lohela's picture. He was one of our pasty makers.

Here's one photo of Toivo Lohela. He's the man in the blue sweater at the top of the picture. He also was seen about two years ago pitching horseshoes.

Pasty Makers
A quiet man, a veteran, who got along with everybody. Toivo left Still Waters about a year ago, for the VA hospital in Marquette. We miss him.

Naomi, thanks for your pages. The pictures you have grouped from the Pasty Cam are some of my personal favorites.

Uncle Toivo taught me how to split firewood and how to use a two-man crosscut saw. We practiced considerably. He was also a favorite sauna companion, sometimes getting up in the middle of the night to fire his up so we could have a morning sauna before I went to work, that is when he still lived in South Range and when I lived in Trimountain. We last saw him in Marquette on Aug. 3'rd. I will miss him greatly, but will always carry fond memories of time spent together.

Thanks for thinking of my baby brother. I think of him every day and it's great to see that he has so many friends that care.
He will be missed GREATLY and every day at that.
Thanks again

Reflection

Sunset over the lake
opens a fan streaked
with hot-pink light. Below
the clouds, another sun sets
in dark water. We remember
those we knew and ponder
the way that life leaves,
like a sun, like a cloud,
bright and brief as time.
Rapt, below,
our faces tinged
with this farewell,
we know no other sunset
shall ever be the same,
nor days that linger like the touch
of gentle fingers
or love's outstretched hand.
