??

As I was preparing this shot to upload, Jonathan happened to look over my shoulder and offer his guess. He said it was model rockets ready for testing, perhaps somewhere out in the Keweenaw, those guys from Tech with their "rocket club".

uh-uh

Any other ideas?

It is either the old trailer park just down bootjack road, or the trailer park never developed just outside Hancock, up 41 going towards Calumet. The white poles are/were power supplies.

By 100%yooper, stuck down state on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 - 10:45 pm:

Or maybe the old drive in (Chassell or Lake Linden)?

By Stan,Florida on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 - 11:46 pm:

Sure looks like an old drive in.I worked for several here in Florida, all gone now.

By Paul on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 01:03 am:

That is the Chassell drive in.

By R Somero CA on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 03:41 am:

Speaker stands at a drive-in. Lakes or Hiawatha, I can't tell.

Cemetary plots with snorkels??? Could use shorter snorkels if someone would cut the weeds!

Lake Linden (Hiawatha) Drive In

By future transplant on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 08:50 am:

My guess is the old drive in on Tamarack rd. in Lake Linden. But I'm a loper, so don't quote me on that.

By Alan, High Springs, Fl. on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 09:57 am:

My guess is either the Hiawatha in Chassell or the Lakes in Lake Linden.

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 10:32 am:

Now, let's see... for Tuesday we had:

- trailer park power supplies
- model rocket launchers
- cemetery plot snorkels
- drive-in in Lake Linden or Chassell

Look's like it's time to publish Wednesday's Pasty Cam :o)

(Paul at 1:03 am zeroed in first)

I think cemetery plot snorkels wins the prize.

By TB in RO on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 02:28 pm:

Thanks Betty in Houston. If I win the prize, I will share my pasty with you in Austin at the end of September. TB in Royal Oak

I LOVE the cemetery plot snorkel idea!!!! Might have been a good idea a couple of hundred years ago. Not even that long ago, maybe. When my grandmother had her second child in the late teens or early 1920's, the doctors told her husband that she had died during the delivery. Good thing they didn't bury her until about 45 years later!

What most people don't know is that this is actually the rare habitat of the Hermes Caduceus Snake, a rare and endangered species of snake that at one time was widespread throughout the world. The Hermes Caduceus Snake is prone to entwining itself around the poles, seen here in the photo. But the Chassell Drive-In misnomer should prevent people from seeking out and discovering the true location of one of the last remaining habitats of the Hermes Caduceus Snakes.

Bio-Illogical....you must be great at playing Balderdash!!

This grown in field is quite a contrast from my memory of the drive-in. Here in Dallas, they turned the drive-in into a used-car lot! I guess the days of the ol' drive-in are gone...too bad.

Thanks to all who share their memories!

While you're trying to figure out the puzzle, don't forget to stop and smell the wildflowers. Such profusion!

By Linda Laverdiere on Friday, August 31, 2001 - 06:05 pm:

I think its for sure the Lake Linden theater as I used to go to it many a times when I was a little girl and then as a teenager...sure miss it.
