Kinda' muggy sticky today in da U.P. The ol' lady and me, we decide to go town, maybe spend some time in the frozen food section. I see the Pasty Cam guy snappin' a shot of these two old geezers fishin' on that little point what juts out in Teal Lake. But wait! Zoom in on them reeds... This guy looks like he's a LONG way from home!

Whenever I used to drive past on my way to work, I often thought how much this little lake resembled a Scottish Loch. But I never had any sighting like this. Gives me goose bumps!

Someone wrote an article once (Heavens knows where it is now) - that Teal Lake is connected to Lake Superior through underground tunnelings (probably old mine shafts, HEY?) and from there, "any old Nessie" could show up in Teal Lake...y'know, St.Lawrence Seaway, L.Ontario, L.Erie, L.Huron, Soo Locks...etc!

Miss the ol' lake sites -but will see them EOM July. In @1942(?), we stayed in "Cabins" about 200 yards from this peninsula....There's only one building left from these cabins, at least last summer there was...and it's now a storage place.
That "place" is the cabin we which we stayed.

Hey, I grew up on that lake. Our house was a block from it. This use to be Negaunee's water supply so we weren't suppose to swim in it. But as kids we would walk thru the woods and go skinny dipping of the bluff (White Rocks) on the other side of lake from where this picture was taken. What a great swimming hole. This was back in the 50's and early 60's. Thanks for the picture.

Toivo, on many a trip up the the U.P. we have stopped at Grandma's Pasty shop and then ate lunch by the side of Teal Lake. Now I wonder if Nessie was watching us enjoy them pasties. What kind of camera were you using to capture this picture?

I've been to Loch Ness, and the historical Museum explaining the fact/fiction for Nessie. You'd have to see it for yourself. I believe! If there are any folks familiar with Sidnaw, there's a small lake at the edge of town by the tracks (beside M28) that has a very deep, mysterious look. I think they called it "Back lake". My grandmother lived much of her life near Sidnaw and the locals think that it doesn't have a "bottom". It has a very dark color and appearance. Anyway, I'm reminded of it because of this discussion about Teal lake... Teens used to fish off it's bank and catch bullheads in the summer. Ahhh the UP

As Mike from New Berlin says, he swam off white rocks. I grew up there in the 70's. How about big and little Swede? If I would have known Nessie was out there I never would have gone skinny dipping with Lee, Bob, Dan and others on a summer night we walked out to Big Swede and the fisherman shined the lights on us. Anyone out there remember? This site sure can bring back some great Yooper growing up memories. THANKS!
