Boy did I have to battle the bugs to get this one! Black flies, deer flies, and mosquitos so thick you could hardly breath. But I couldn't resist the chance to bring you a "moving sign", rare in these parts.

Road work
Remember to continue on US 41 if you're headed to Eagle Harbor. Take the "cut-off" road, a nice drive which follows the route of the Popeye Run down to the Harbor. By the way, that big event is less than a month away - Saturday, July 7th. More details available at George's Eagle Harbor Web.

Ya, that looks like some serious traffic backing up dere. Youse guys think that if there are more than 3 cars slowed down at a time it's a jam. You know, it's scenes like this that make me want to beat feet out of the DC area, and comments like yours, Charlie, about the bugs that make me want to stay where I am.

Too bad about the detour..while the 'cut off road" will get you to the Harbor, you miss Great Sand Bay, Cat Harbor(Pop 3), Jacobs Falls, etc, etc. In this case getting there IS half the fun!!!! Maybe 28 from Ahmeek will work for awhile.

If you think this detour is bad, come to Detroit! There is no possible way to get from point A to point B without construction. And at least up there you all don't have road ragers. Even if you had to sit and wait a couple of minutes, what better place to sit? The beautiful scenery that abounds would be my choice over the construction of yet another subdivision or strip mall. This web site is my connection back to the U.P. where I can relax cause there's always tomorrow. Thanks for keeping it going!

I drive for a living across this great U.S.A. And that detour I have taken many times because it is the quickest way to heaven. A quick glance to the left and AHHHHH! The Cliffs of Cliffton.

I drove through Cat harbor a few years ago (Pop 3 I love it!).. I was in a dodge caravan, looked in front and there was another caravan, and to top it off, we passed another caravan going other direction.. would have been a good commercial for the Dodge folks

Anyone know how long the work on the HWY is scheduled to go on?? I'll miss the M26 drive. Darn....I was hoping the bugs would forget about the UP this summer. If all three kinds are in full gear right now, I think we're in trouble this summer. How have the ticks been?

Stix,

This posting was from 2001, it is clear up there....But the skeeters, blackflies and deerflies were in full bloom last week....

Hey Bill.....well that was a real blooper on my part!!!Thanks for getting me back "in the loop"!! MAYBE the bugs won't be so bad this year!!! Whew!
