Here is one of the perpetrators of all that nighttime noise, a common Spring Peeper. Some Wood Frogs and Toads joined them this evening. My friend Bob Sprague and I commenced the annual frog count. No, we didn't enumerate individuals; we just evaluate the collective roar.

I have fond memories of listening to the peepers after bedtime on spring evenings. We lived by the Calumet township fire hall and I think all the racket was coming from Swedetown marsh (what I call it, anyway) which had to be at least 1/2 mile away. A fine and pleasant roar it is.

Dan, what an excellent photograph! I hope that viewers will appreciate the level of difficulty it is to capture one of these little noisemakers. Well done.

While walking into local streams, I often hear frogs singing, lots of them. Usually around standing water (wetlands). But I've never seen them. When you stop walking, the singing stops.
Shortly after beginning to walk again, the choir starts again. Dan must have been in frog-camo to get this photo.

It's such a joy viewing the Pasty Cam each day, thanks for all you show us. Can't help feeling however that if more people viewed the world through the eyes of Dan Urbanski, they would have a greater respect for the fragile nature of our planet and perhaps a greater respect for one another. Thank you Dan for your artistic and sensitive glimpses into our vulnerable environs.

An absolutely spectacular shot, Dan! Now I've just gotta get me some blueprints for that frog-blind of yours.

What a great photo! I was so pleased earlier this year when I first heard the frogs at the marsh next to Houghton High School. Spring is here!

Mike Propokowicz,

You must be "Big Mike" from Posen and Olds Bldg. 40? I remember well your accordion accompaniment to songs at our Christmas lunches back in the 1970's.
