Wonder if this shot was taken late or early in the day?... It looks like the tree tops have just a touch of sunlight, streaming over the woods behind us.

This is much the way conditions appeared at sunrise this morning in Petoskey, where I'm typing these words on the way back from a working vacation in the southern U.S... Fresh snow fell overnight here, as the sun peeked in and out of mostly cloudy skies. Lord willing, we'll be back in the Copper Country by tonight.

Like Dorothy says, there's no place like home :o)

What small lake near Winona might this be? We have a cottage on a small lake near Winona. This doesn't look like Sandy Lake, though. But I am not familiar with it in the winter, I only see it in the summer and fall.

Liz, this lake is right on the east side of M26 just south of the "Winona" road. It is more of a pond, really. I wonder what they catch in there.

If it's the pond I think it is, I've fished it several times in past winters. We caught bluegills, sunfish and crappie, mostly bluegills by the bucketload. An accasional smallmouth was not unknown and there was talk of a few pike but we never tried for them.

Hi all,
I grew up in Winona and I think the name of the lake is "Winona Lake" τΏτ That's what we always called it.
