All the cookies are baked, the gifts are wrapped, the tree is trimmed, and the Keweenaw is aglow with lights. It's the time of the season, when everything is ready, waiting for you to relax and enjoy all the preparations you've been busy with for weeks. Donn de Yampert gives us a fitting U.P. holiday display for the eve of Christmas.

By Margaret, Amarillo, TX on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 09:51 am:

We don't have the snow cover, but everyone has their lights up and deer out on the lawn. We try as hard as we can to look like Christmas here in Texas, but we either have sunshine or blizzard. You gotta take what you get. Merry Yule all.

By Taka on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 09:55 am:

I have posted a picture that I took along with the Downtown Houghton photo used on the next year Pasty Calendar. Please click the link below, and check out the photos.

Beautiful picture. Merry Christmas, love and peace to all, especially our men and women in the armed services in the Middle East and all over the globe.

By Pete Wi. on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 10:04 am:

Just checked the Tech web cams and it sure looks like the Copper Country will have a white Christmas.
I wanna come back up for good. Maybe next year.

By Yooperzz in Indiana on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 10:19 am:

As usual another great photo. May God bless our troops during this Holiday Season and may this next year bring peace to all. Looks like we will have a white Christmas here in Northern Indiana, as we are expecting up to 10" inches today. There is nothing worse than a Christmas without snow.

By Sherry in N FL on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 11:33 am:

Merry Christmas and Peace to all. Here in N FL temps about 60 but tomorrow morning should have a low of 35. For me great holdiay weather. Love to see the snow but do not want to live in it anymore. Plan on a walk on the beach tommorow afternoon with the grandkids.
Thanks to all for the wonderful pics

By Missin the UP from NJ esp. at Christmas on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 12:17 pm:

What a beautiful UP Christmas Card. Thanks Donn
It's raining very heavily here! No white Christmas for us. I send a prayer that the folks who got flooded out a little while ago are NOT flooded again tonight, Christmas Eve!
I would like to also send a prayer of thanks and wishes for a safe holiday season to our troops overseas.
Then I wanted to wish a Merry Christmas and thank everyone at Pasty.net for such a warm and welcoming site. I bet this site spreads more good than even you guys can ever know.
And warm wishes to all the photographers and folks who sign on to say hi. I can still laugh so hard at some of the exchanges under past pictures in the archives! I read and think, that's where I grew up and I feel such a sense of pride.
YOU GUYS ROCK!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR!

By Debbie, Durand, Il. on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 12:53 pm:

Greetings from northern Il. We don't have snow cover and they are predicting 50 degrees by Sat. Kids will be able to try out their new bikes and rollerblades right away! Anyway, bless all of you wonderful people. Happy holidays! Hope Joulupukki is good to you (I hope I spelled it correctly)!

By Kevin K. Lodi, CA on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 01:21 pm:

Merry christmas from the west coast.
No snow here in the valley, just rain and a dampness that gets right into your bones. Nothing that a hot buttered rum and a cozy fire can't chase away. I do miss those white Christmas's tho!
Thank's again for another year of great photos, and Pasty's. That helps chase away the homesickness.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

By Bruce J. Penn Sanford, FL on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 01:22 pm:

By Chevysac, UP Native in Detroit on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 - 03:29 pm:

As we all settle in for a cozy Christmas Eve with our loved ones, please everyone say a little prayer for the family of Nicolas Balinski. Nick just 19, died Monday in a tragic snowmobile accident. My nephew was with him and was the first to find him. Speed was the killer, it was daytime (around noon) and no alcohol or drugs were involved. Nick was an only child and a student at MTU enjoying time off school to be with friends. I share this just to remind everyone to tell their children to ride carefully. The machines of today are faster than most people can control safely. Please don't get me wrong, I snowmobile & motorcycle and have for years, but the biggest piece of safety equipment that needs to come along is what's between your ears. Don't forget to use it!! Helmet's are always in order and Nick had one on, but they are no match for trees at high speed.
What a terrible Christmas for his parents, they will never have the same lives here on earth again.

The Italian Hall narrative is less than 10 minutes, and worth every second. What a riveting account. Thanks again. Click on to the Hoppers note to hear it yourself. Next time you have a beer at Shute's, it will all come back.
Happy Holidays, but never forget..............

It is hard to believe of man's inhumanity to his fellow man went back to the early 1900's as we are now living in the U.S. with threats from people and nation's that we have only wished to help. God Bless our troops serving overseas today and through the holiday season. We wish you a speedy time over there and you will be returning soon to your family and loved ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone at Pastycam. We on the east coast enjoy your site immensely each day. Go Blue in the Rose Bowl!
