It must be fun to zoom around the U.P. in Rick Anderson's Skypixs airplane. Back in the spring he buzzed Crystal Falls and came home with this view, like a miniature village, where U.S. 2 turns the corner past the post office.

I been turnin a few corners myself, the latest out here near Jasper. Hope to see a glacier tomorrow. Can't help thinking of the "Laurium Glacier" back home and wonder if it's still around?

Great shot of C Falls. How can I make this big enough for my wallpaper?

By Mike R. New Berlin, WI on Friday, August 1, 2003 - 08:50 am:

HK Corn County. It finally dawned on me. Great clues Mr Systems, and here Carol was hoping it was one of her old boy friends from school, heh heh. I thought you were in Illinois.

Depending on your operating system, these instructions should be close. Other (right) click on the photo and select "Set as Wallpaper". Then, if you don't see it across the entire screen, go into your Start, Settings, Control Panel and Select Display. Click on the BACKGROUND tab and look near the lower right corner where it says "Display" and there is a dial-down box for you to select "Stretch". click "Apply" and "ok" and get out of there. Go to your desktop and check it out! I hope this works!

Connie,
The only options I have are to Tile image or Center image :(

Thanks for the help, though. I will keep trying 'til I find something that works.

Thanks for the windows instructions. I have wanted to be able to fit wall paper to the screen for a long time and never was able to figure it out by myself.

I think the picture of Crystal Falls is super and I hope Rick will come to take a skypix of Escanaba...Our Ludington street is so wide and beautiful and it ends at our lovely lighthouse at the harbor.....Rick would it help to tell you this request comes from friend of your mother-in-law??

By Missin the UP from NJ on Friday, August 1, 2003 - 12:32 pm:

Us homesick Yoopers will keep Rick snapping pics for a long time! I'm hoping he'll get a picture of Iron River. As I've said, it's been over 30 years and I'm curious about the changes.

You guys have something so special here that I wonder if other folks from other places are as lucky as us. Probably not. I just love pasty.com!

THANK YOU a gazillion times!!

With Crystal Falls the topic this week, did anyone have any pictures from the U.P. Firemens Tournament last weekend? There was a great turnout for the tournament.

A.R.:
Click this link for a good set of pictures and discussion of the Laurium Glacier.
For more, just click on the binoculars and the phrase Search the PastyCam Archives at the top of the PastyCam main page, then enter the word glacier in the Power Search box on the search page, and click on the Search button.

The snow that piles up in the gully alongside the highway going downhill to Lake Linden. Takes forever to melt! :)

BL - Glad that worked out for you! Holler if you need anything else, feel free to email me directly.

Mike B.-Sorry that didn't work out for you. If you have photosuite or something like it, you can "Save As" the photo with the other click and open it in Photosuite to resize it. If not, try getting Charlie at chopper@pasty.com to add the photo you love to the WOW page! When they do that, you have several sizes to choose from and one is sure to fit!!! Good Luck!

Mary Lou:
Here's a link to Rick's Skypix website page for Escanaba, he has quite a few shots there, but I didn't see Ludington St., though:
Skypixs - Escanaba

Missin the UP from NJ:
Sorry, I didn't see Iron River on Skypixs website!

By still curious on Friday, August 1, 2003 - 08:39 pm:

Toivo,
What did you do on your summer vacation (back home)?
Do tell.

By Mary Lou on Friday, August 1, 2003 - 09:49 pm:

Mary....Thank you for sending Rick's site.... there were some beautiful pictures of Escanaba......but none of Ludington street or Escanaba Harbor or our lighthouse or our beautiful Ludington Park..or Escanaba Country Club, which is about 100 years old....we do have some industries here like Mead but we really are a beautiful UP town with lots of good yoopers....I am a displaced Copper Country girl but happy to live in such a nice town...and only 180 miles from Lake Linden!!

By WhiskeyCreek on Friday, August 1, 2003 - 09:56 pm:

As far as I know every version of WINDOWS has the Paint Program - that's the best one there is for resizing saved pictures and then resaving them in any file/format desired - there's also the option to save it as Wallpaper after you have resized it in the Image/Stretch-Skew option. Even Toivo Whomsoever should know this by now.
