Tex DeGraves has a lovely collection of photos in our new Guest Gallery, including this view of the Peninsula Point Lighthouse in Stonington, MI, across the bay from Escanaba. Built in 1866, it was de-commisioned in 1936 when the Minneapolis Shoal light was activated in Green Bay. In 1959 the adjacent keeper's quarters burned down, leaving the light tower to stand alone.

By the way, there is another Stonington in the U.P., down by Toivola - which reminds me - wonder if Toivo is ever going to finish his North American tour? Lots of Cammies are waiting for that T-shirt.

I think he should make the T-Shirt now, and send us iron-ons of Alaska and Hawaii. (Rolling on the floor laughing).

Sell the T's for 10.95 on pasty. Looked like a beautiful sunset that day. Keep on bringing us the pics.

Love to visit pasty.com! The photos make me homesick. Such beautiful country! Utah has it's own beauty, but being in the 6th year of a drought and living in the desert...I really appreciate and miss the U.P.! Thanks to everyone for putting together such a great site.

Stonington Penninsula is a GREAT place filled with orchards and Lake Michigan views. Weather on the "rivera" is moderate, and wildlife abound.
I remember the Rapid River fires several years ago, scarred things up a bit but it was always a favorite drive...Thanks for the Pic

Mimi and I were up in this one a couple years ago. Still solid, wouldn't it be something if 'they' could rebuild the keeper's quarters and make another park out of it. It really is pretty down on that point. The water level is so low you can walk way out on the rocky bottom.

Enjoyed your picture today. Grew up a few miles from there. I remember when the keeper's quarters were there. My mother had many stories about visiting there as a child. Love Pasty.Com.

Think they mean that Spotlight on Mqt. week and photos of the area will only be seen in the Marquette gallery - not the Pasty Cam-

Hi..just got back to Escanaba from Lake Linden and the "Harbor"....It was so good to see Lake Superior but there was 4 ft waves on the lake on Tues. and I couldn't take the boat to the CH lighthouse. I love dramatic, Lake Superior but I also love gentle Lake Michigan...it really is beautiful on The Stonington peninsula as well..so thanks for the photo of another beautiful UP lighthouse!!
