Our new U.P. "Guest Gallery" of potential Pasty Cam photos is off to a great start! With hundreds of pictures already uploaded, you can browse shots from all over the U.P., as well as exiled yoopers in other regions, just keeping in touch. Today's photo is from a collection by Bob Gilreath, Tourney Time in Hubell, where all the area's firefighters got together to match their skills in friendly competition.

Here's a hint for better viewing in the Gallery: Try the "slideshow" feature. I watched Bob's album as a slideshow, with the transition feature which Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher allows. There are 3 shots which give a great view of the action, as Bob demonstrates the 'burst' feature of his camera.

If you are interested in having an album in the Gallery, read this and email gallery@pasty.com with the requested information. We look forward to seeing your favorite photos from ANYWHERE around the U.P.

I love watching those Fireman Tournaments. Some great skill goes into everything they do to save our butts.

Don't forget to check out the 109th Annual U.P. Fireman's Tournament to be held July 24th - 26th this summer in Crystal Falls. Should be a great time.

There is a treasure of photographs in the new pasty cam gallery! Wow, there sure are some talented Yoopers taking pictures these days. Thank you so much for sharing your spectacular photos with us and thank you those at Pasty.net who make it possible. I just want you to know how much I appreciate being able to see the U.P. when I can't be there. WOW!!

If you have about 15 minutes this evening and want a real treat, a virtual tour of the Keweenaw, go to Shawn Wyant's album in the Guest Gallery, choose the Slideshow option, set the transition feature to "Blend", and enjoy 129 beautiful scenes. Jonathan and I watched it tonight, very impressed with the composition of each photo.

Thanks for a great album, Shawn.

Charlie you are right. The slideshow is very well done and brings the Copper Country alive. So many familiar places...
But the last slide??, I guess he couldn't resist.

Just finished enjoying Shawn's slideshow with an icy cold Diet Coke in hand. My favorite shots are 30 & 31. I haven't yet figured out how to put my pictures in the gallery, although I have all the info I'm supposed to need.

I just wanted to say thanks to this website for allowing people to upload their pictures. I am glad that I could share my pictures of the UP with everyone. I am still in the process of getting captions on all the pictures but I could not wait to share them. I am hoping on getting back to the UP in July or Aug. I will be growing the 129 pictures when I am up there. Thanks for the comments Charlie, Dave, and Marsha. I am glad you enjoyed the tour.

Dave, I was debating if I should've included the last slide or not, but I could not resist.

That's an awesome gallery Shawn. Great shots.

Well, if all goes well, I should be back in Crystal Falls tomorrow afternoon. From there, we are driving to Houghton for the Fireworks cruise. I should have a couple hours to waste before the cruise sets out and would love to see some sights. Can someone tell me how long it takes to drive from Houghton to Copper Harbor and back.

Mike B

It should take about an hour or so to drive from Houghton to Copper Harbor, but it might take longer depending on the traffic and how many camper trailers you get behind, then it makes a long ride.

Mike B. during the 4th of July Holiday Weekend you can by certain that it will take longer than an hour to get to Copper Harbour. Everyone will be heading that way.

By Connie - Colorado on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 - 12:07 pm:

Dear Mike B.

A road trip to Copper Harbor, if done correctly, should take an entire day. Be sure your bicycle is well maintained before you leave!
