Again we pause to remember those individuals who passed from this life in recent days. You are welcome to add to these names, along with any memories you are inclined to share:

Ann Hatala
Lillian Heikkinen
Dorothy Hill
Jack Sitar
William Stone
Jack Foster

Today's picture was taken just up the road from yesterday's shots near Jacob's Falls. It's a scene which, no doubt, each of these individuals enjoyed on occasion. Our thanks to Marlin Wenberg for stopping near Kemp's corner to capture the view.

Thank you to the Veterans of the Copper Country who held a Memorial Service and Dedication on Memorial Day, May 30, 2003.
Some of us old timers did not consider May 26 as Memorial Day. The 26th was chosen to give workers a three day week-end not to honor those who gave their lives for our freedom. This year the 30th could have been used to give the same.

In memory of Dave Kallio,a former classmate from DBHS and a member of our bunch back in the 50's. He passed away in the last week or so. We all had a lot of fun and will always remember him. I'd like to extend my sympathy to his family especially sister Eleanor and brother Ronnie as I knew them well also.

In memory of Bernard and Theresa Strack of Donken who both passed away within the last two weeks.

Bernard was one of my father's (Francis) best friends. Bernard's first marriage was to my mother's (Lorna) twin sister Virginia and they had three sons: Tom, Jack and Tim. Tim passed away in 1976.

When Bernard married Theresa they had three sons and a daughter: Peter, Paul, Roger and Wendy. Roger passed away in the 1980's. Peter and I were in the same grade in school and Paul was a grade below me. They were the nicest boys - we had a lot of fun and I was very close to them for many years but as we got older and I moved away, we lost touch.

Theresa, bless her heart, had MS for as long as I can remember. She was kind and she had a real strength about her. She and Bernard were married for over 40 years.

My heart goes out to Peter, Paul and Wendy for the loss of their devoted mother and father and to my dear cousins Tom and Jack for the loss of their father. May you all find peace during this difficult time.

Goodby Grandpa. You were the best fishing buddy a 10 year old could ever know. I will always remember and cherish our times fishing on the Lake Huron shore with your friend Tony Nagy.

May you be at peace, and with grandma again. . .
