Good Morning everyone. We are working our way out of the deep freeze, enough so that the kids in our county are back in school today for the first time after Christmas vacation. Happy Wednesday you all, and stay warm!

By Bob Jewell, Farmington Hills (Rjewell) on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - 07:47 am:

Good morning Marianne

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - 08:22 am:

Nice pix!
This weather reminds me of a song: "It's as cold as two below Honey"

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - 03:00 pm:

My favorite is the red barn. We had a red barn but age took it down.:(
Marianne and Deb, don't mean to make you cry but it's 31 degrees in Cincy now! Whoopee!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 - 06:27 pm:

Oh Shirley, that's not nice :-)

Beautiful slideshow again. Love the "little Red
Wing"!!

By FJL (Langoman) on Thursday, January 9, 2014 - 10:14 am:

That is a big bird. Can someone identify it???

By D. A. (Midwested) on Thursday, January 9, 2014 - 10:37 am:

In case you haven't heard, there has been some pretty big solar storm activity. The possibility for Aurora action is quite high tonight and Friday morning. I think they said starting after midnight Thursday. There is also the possibility it will extend much further south than is normal.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, January 9, 2014 - 12:06 pm:

D.A. there is an article in the Des Moines Register that those Northern Lights could possibly be seen as far south as Des Moines, Ia.

By RCW (Rcw) on Thursday, January 9, 2014 - 12:29 pm:

FJL, that's a Pileated Woodpecker. We have them at our cottage in Bootjack in the summer.

By FJL (Langoman) on Thursday, January 9, 2014 - 03:20 pm:

Thank you RCW. I thought that's what it might be. I think we had a discussion about it some time back.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, January 9, 2014 - 04:57 pm:

That's what the cartoon bird "Woody Woodpecker" was patterned after. I've only seen 2 or 3 in my long lifetime ~ always from a distance.
