The 2012 photo at Marquette's Upper Harbor is an amazing pic!

2012

It is also the January picture on the 2012 Pasty Cam Calendar

It is!! I looked at that and couldn't remember why it was so familiar, lol!

The white house across the street from my grandma's belonged to my best friend all through elementary school. Fun to see these pictures like this. My grandma's house sure has changed from when she lived there. But I loved that old house, and always dreamed of owning it some day.

Lots of great pictures today, but Greta's, Jon's and Dan's simply stand out for me.

I so enjoy these looks at the UP every morning!

Nice set of pics!

Agreeing with you, Alex. All very pretty!
Our daughter, Pam, brought me a nice little gift yesterday....she's been saving the winter pix from Pasty for a long time and transferred them to a DVD for me to watch on my TV screen. Very enjoyable!
Thanks, Charlie & Mary, for a job always well done, and thanks to all the Pasty photographers!

Can anyone tell me what the buildings and machinery on the Hancock side, in the 2004 photo, was. About in the center of the picture. 1927 was 4 years before me. The Portage bridge I knew and played on is the one in the picture but in my life time that equipment was gone. The motel seen in the Bridge Cam sits on the space I'm asking about.

Shirley, that was so nice of your daughter. Your daughter must really love you.

The Jan Tucker radio show this morning hit home. A 75 year old man had just had hip surgery and his 101 year old mother, in a nursing home, with Alzheimers kept calling him to see how he was. That's a mom, they never stop worrying or loving.

Got a ton of snow in Ontonagon, not sure how much but enough for the snow lovers to come UP. The snowmobiles are buzzing. :)

Cold front coming, throw another log on that fire, we are.

The Hancock coal dock, (a.k.a. The Peoples Coal Dock)?

I love these shoebox memories. What was the large structure on the north (Hancock) end of the bridge? Looks like the wall along the highway leading up to Hancock was in place.

PSmittSC- Its the old Hancock Coal Dock, the "wall" is the coal bins, and you can make out the crane which was fited with a clam shell to unload the coal from the boats to the coal bins.

It was called Peoples Coal Dock. I have photo in Gallery of my late Uncles steamboat unloading there.

Wow---Ask a question and get answers right away. Thanks, all of you. Now I remember the sand down there alway was sort of dark. Never thought back then that there would be a motel on that site. Thanks again.
