Nice pics...indoors and outdoors.

Good morning!! Way to go, Kosk, & Bruce & Mickill!! You guys were up early this morning.

Love the slideshow, as always! This year's picture is outstanding!

Been getting to the computer later and later. Not loving the darkness in the mornings. Supposed to get some snow today. We really do need a little more to coat the ground. It's definitely been a different kind of winter.

Hope you guys all have a nice day!

Good Morning. It is a nice photo review today, but I especially like the Big Bay Point Lighthouse, the dogs chillin' in the snow, the baby with the monster cinnamon roll, and the creek to Lake Fanny Hooe. :-)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, January 27, 2012 - 09:43 am:

I have a hard time believing that baby is actually holding that big ol' roll...especially looking at how loosely his right hand seems to be holding on. Precious picture!

By Eugene Zuverink (Zube) on Friday, January 27, 2012 - 02:19 pm:

It looks like that big roll came from the Hilltop
restaurant in Lanse.

It is now legal to protect your livestock and pets from wolves.

That will make a lot of ranchers happy.

It was springlike today, temps up in the high 30s, the sun felt good. It's slowly climbing higher.

Starting to notice that dawn has been starting at 7:30am. The spring equinox is on it's way.

More snow coming this weekend, possibly up to 12" in some parts of the UP. That will bring more snow lovers up here. The snowmobilers are in abundance and having fun.

In today's review, which year shows a typo? <wicked grin>

In all honesty, what's a little typo, given 14 years of daily posts on each of Cam Notes and What's UP, without fail.
Thanks for all you do for us, Charlie, Mary, and the whole team!

You betcha, Shirlohio, I have a reputation to uphold (!), but I wasn't going to just leave that typo note flapping without covering my back! Besides the Pasty crew certainly deserves praise!

I getcha, FRNash.....that's no 'punkin' on your shoulders:)....and with the latter part, I agree wholeheartedly with you about the Pasty crew!

All I'll say about the wolf story is that uneducated ranchers and greedy hunters are loving that news. K

FRNASH
2008 should be Mackinaw not Mackinac.

Well except for ships, I do know that about the only thing that is Mackinaw is the City: Mackinaw City, (actually it is technically a village, not a city) all the rest are Mackinac!

So as to ships, I had to do a bit of research:

As for USCG Cutters, we may have a small dilemma:
The picture was taken in 1958, so here is the dilemma:

1. USCGC Mackinac (WAVP-371), in service from 1949 to 1967.

2. USCGC Mackinaw (WAGB-83), an icebreaker in commission from 1944 to 2006.

3. USCGC Mackinaw (WLBB-30), an icebreaker in commission since 2006.

Depending on which (#1 or #2) is shown in the picture, either spelling could be right!
