Good morning....just found out that Jackie Torrence died back in November....anyone else familiar with her? Wonderful storyteller, warm and wonderful lady. A real loss to the entire English speaking world (or maybe I should say English LISTENING world) I had just seen her the month before and was looking forward to spending some time with her at her home my next trip through the Carolinas. A missed opportunity.

We had an unfortunate death a couple of days ago here in Ontonagon. Bob Carlson football coach and principal of the Ontonagon Area High School passed away. He will be missed by alot of people.
He was a very good person.

PEWABIC ALL SCHOOL REUNION

Did you attend the old Pewabic School? If so, on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at the Quincy FireHall, there will be an informal reunion of ALL who attended the school. Right now the goal is to create a guest list of people we can contact about the event. Your part in this is to send along an e-mail to:
hmchamber@webtv.net (Helen Aittama Chamberlain), with names and addresses, if you have any, of others you remember who attended the school when you did.

THANKS, and really looking forward to seeing you at the Pewabic School reunion.

Good morning. Anxiously looking forward to that snow fall this evening. Looks like it might be our last one for the season, cuz temps are going up in the 40's next week :(

Susan from Florida, sorry that you lost your friend. I worked with a guy that was a fabulous story teller and he used to keep me entertained for hours on end with the stories he told. I was always after him to write a book about everything he had experienced and knew...it was amazing.

Come to think of it, there aren't too many story tellers out there anymore who can wrap you in their stories...it is definately an art.

To the Ontonagon School District, family, friends
I'm sure all of us will extend our deepest sorrow
in the passing of Bob Carlson. May he rest in peace.

Did Jackie Torrance ever tell stories at the
Toronto Stoyteller's Festival? The name is
familiar to me. I will try to go through some of
my past programs later today or tomorrow.

This is a busy week-end for us because our
son in home from Fort Lewis for the long
week-end. Hurray!

Kosk in Toronto....Sorry, I don't know if she ever told in that venue....but altogether possible. However, it would not have been in the past few years because of health issues. She had pretty much retired....unable to get around but was able, with special assistance, to get to Jonesborough last October to the National Storytelling Festival. What a welcome she got! 1500 people in the tent and then who knows how many standing 5/6 deep all around it....10 minute standing ovation before she said her first word. Not a dry eye in the house. I'm not sure who was more blessed, us for being able to see/hear her one more time, or her for being able to be seen and heard. Lots of love there that day and I'm so glad I did not miss it. The whole weekend made so much more special because of her presence. Hope you are able to find a program that jogs your memory. Have many of her books and tapes (some records and some cd's as well...you can tell I've been listening quite a while by the various forms collected!) If you are able to find anything in your library you will be much the richer for checking them out! Good luck and happy hunting! Let me know how you make out.
