Good morning!
We finally have some snow on the ground in Connecticut and I think it's going to stay more than a few hours!

Good Saturday morning to everyone! If you've got the snow, hope you can get out and enjoy it!

The 704' H. LEE WHITE and the 730' CANADIAN PROGRESS dropped anchor in Bete Grise Bay early last evening in anticipation of the gale force winds.

jAPEi: Thanks for all your links and especially the Christmas calendar page yesterday. The subtle changes in the music are truly beautiful.

Good morning everyone. Waiting for hubby to come home from the road...and hoping the LES machine off of Lake Michigan waits until he is home, to start up.
Mr. Bill, how much longer will the freighters be out on Lake Superior? For some reason, I thought that after November, they were in dry dock. Can't imagine how cold and dangerous it is for them to be out in Lake Superior, this late in the year.

Soo locks close 1/15/06.

By Danbury (Danbury) on Saturday, December 10, 2005 - 09:41 am:

Hi sur5er, some days ago it was posted that the Soo locks will not close until 01-15-06, so I guess it's save to assume that there'll be boats on the lakes until then. For some pics of how ships (and boats) look after a trip through the cold, check www.duluthshippingnews.com. Icy! :)

Gale predictions must be easing, both ships are off anchor and steaming towards Keweenaw Point.

Mr. Bill, how fortunate that you can see these giants hovering in your view. You still don't have a shack or dog house for rent next summer for me eh? :)

Oh Yooper. You make me smile. That's a
good thing!

So the freighters are out there until Jan. 15th.
Amazing! I'll have to scan the horizon as I
travel to the UP on the 26th of December. Hip
Hip Hooray!

Ms. Katie,

I'm always IN the doghouse; but you're right, I'm blessed. Mrs. Bill lets me in in June, just before black fly season.

Hei, Pasty-cammers. It has been a long time since I posted (too lazy to look up my password in my email), but again, I need help. I'm polishing up an online exhibit on Heikki Lunta that I'm doing for a Folklore Masters thesis in indiana, and I wonder if anyone out there has pictures of the following:

The Library Bar before the 1995 fire
The 1980s Heikki Lunta Society parades
Interesting Pictures from Hancock's Heikinpäivä or Negaunee's Heikki Lunta Winterfest
The 1970s-1980s Delaware Mine Rides (with Heikki presiding)
1991 Mount Ripley Heikki Lunta dance
Other pictures that show how we use Heikki

I can't offer money since I'm a lowly loan-supported student, but your name would be credited with your picture. The exhibit will be hosted on the University of Wisconsin's Center for the Study of Upper Midwestern Cultures website (http//:csumc.wisc.edu) and should be up and running in the spring.
I already have a basic exhibit created, that I displayed at FinnFest in August, but since I have time to improve it before it goes up, I thought I'd ask if any of you out there have pictures in a shoebox to share. Please email me if you got something: hvirtane@indiana.edu

Thanks and keep warm!
Hilary
