Folks here in the U.P. don't have to worry about having a white Christmas this year! The snow covering we have is getting people in the holiday mood for decorating homes or places of business - and if you're like most folks, untangling the lights usually poses a challenge. Unless you have a sidekick, like Patty Rheault, who's cat, Little Minnow lends a helping paw or two. Well, actually the cat looks to be having a good time with the box from the lights, rather than being much of a help. Typical of pets and kids... enjoying the box more than what's in it!

How cute & it's so true about pets enjoying the box more than the contents!

Nice collection of pictures in Patty Rheault's album. Several interesting slide shows. The Guest Gallery has become quite huge.

That's right... More than 300 photographers, almost 30,000 pictures. Did you notice also that the Pasty Counter turned over 300,000 yesterday?

Kitty likes to help and make sure there aren't any loose cannon lights left in the package.

Cute picture! Thanks for sharing.

Hey Pasty Central, is there a posting on this site as to how much snow has accumulated since it started snowing in November? Since I am a native but not a current resident I would love to know. The Bridge Cam is a great way to see the white. Thanks

I love decorating for Christmas. My dogs help me out just like that kitten. What joy.

To Yooperinapa:

If you go back to the main page (www.pasty.com) and work your way down the center banner, you'll see a link to the Snow Thermometer. The direct link is https://www.pasty.com/snow/index.html At the top of that page it shows the total snowfall for the year.

We just had fun putting up the garland with a very excited feline. It is funny how a cat can sleep for hours and then as soon as somthing shiny come into the room they spring back to life in a moment.

My kitty likes an opened gift box lined with tissue paper. She snoozes under the tree with the lights twinkling on her. She thinks she is the greatest gift of them all. Love the attitude!

Aren't cats great?! If you gave them itty-bitty boxes to sleep in, they'd turn up their noses in the way that only cats can, but if it's THEIR idea, then they'll curl up in the tiniest boxes. So funny.

Another good site is http://www.johndee.com/
His N.C.N. link has lots of UP webcams and the Historical Weather link shows daily snowfall and snow depth for Lake Linden.

300,000 WOW! I know I'm responsible for at least 50 of those! :)

By J.T. Toivola (Joyce) on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 - 02:35 pm:

This cat looks like ASHley,my sister's helper. These pictures are my inspiration to mosey to the garage and dig for my own Christmas ornaments. Time's a-flyin. I always have to keep a space under the tree clear for our senior tortie. Our latest addition was a baby last Christmas and was too intimidated by the other animals to help around the house. I have a feeling he will be more than willing to rearrange the trimmings this year. There's one way to find out...

By Pete Wilberding (Peshtigopete) on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 - 02:51 pm:

One of our cats charged the tree this morning. It's artificial and he took out 3 branches and lots of trimmings

By DonnaMac (Donna) on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 - 09:22 pm:

I fostered a kitten for a little while...who totally helped to rearrange the tree! What a surprise every morning! :D
