If there ever were a sign of a good day..it is good toast. I have found the crispy, crusty " Thurner's style" bread in the white paper wrapper. I am grateful my family left enough for a slice of toast this morning.
It is at Pat's Food's in Calumet. Hope they make lots !

By Norma in Midland on Thursday, July 7, 2005 - 07:49 am:

Good morning from Midland. Just one more week and my family will be in Little Betsy for 2 whole weeks!! Can't wait. How are the wonderful bugs - are they gone yet?? I hope the Berry Patch Ice Cream store is open in Copper Harbor - can't wait for a Thimbleberry Sundae to eat at sunset on top of Brockway Mountain. Sorry Sarah and Rachel you have to wait.

We also want to wish Norman Paulson (our dad) Happy 80th Birthday on Sunday. We are throwing him a Big bash to celebrate!!

Just chatting with my friend in London - she was on her way into the city when she decided to turn around and stay home. Whew.

Have they found the 17-year-old suspect that got away from the officers in Eagle River yet? We're wondering about the safety of our cabin!

By Rachel, wishing for Little Betsy on Thursday, July 7, 2005 - 12:24 pm:

Norma--

Hopefully by the third week of August the bugs will be almost gone and the temps will be nice. I think you're going to be eaten alive, so take lots of deet. (Bugs were bad when we were there this time last year.)

I second wishes for Grandpa's 80th and so do his great-grandchildren!

Just a note regarding yesterday’s What’s Up discussion on Finnish foods. My only experience was growing up I had a great girl friend, Diane, whose Father was Norwegian and Mother was Finnish. What genetics those Scandinavians had as she was simply beautiful, however, she loved to be asked to stay over for my mother’s Italian/English cooking heritage. I seem to remember dinners at her house were Dinty Moore on a good night. Think that was a mix of desire to cook (not) then heritage. However, years later a business trip to Finland was memorable for the scenery, not the food. Much fish if I remember correctly. :o)

I'm not that fond of Finnish food, but I must admit, there's nothing like a fresh NISU
bread and a cup of coffee to go with it.

talking on your Nokia phone?
