Melodie Hayes has shared some great U.P. pictures of her father in the past. We visited Ted Anderson in his Sunday School class as a boy... saw him at Ted's Grocery in Iron Mountain... went on a New Year's ski trip with the youth group. And now Melodie takes us berry picking with her Dad:

There was a photo on Pasty Central a while back of an elderly man picking berries and it reminded me of this one of my dad and me. Dad loved to go for walks on Sunday afternoons with me and this time we were at Pewabic Mine area in Iron Mountain. He would tell me stories about growing up and how he and his friends would walk all over the area and be gone for hours and hours from home. Wouldn't that be completely unheard of today? An Amber Alert would be issued!

My mom was the photographer on the baby picture (Ruth Anderson) around 1957, but on the berry picking one, my friend Sherry Blust (Atlantic Mine) was with us and took the photo. I think that was around 1985, but I'm not sure.
Thanks again, Melodie, for another pleasant U.P. stroll down memory lane. It inspires to invite others - while we have a little time yet before Father's Day - to send us shots of you and your dad to be included in a Pasty Cameo on June 19th. If you have one picture as a child, and one as a grown-up with your Dad, that would be great. But any picture would be welcome, if you would take the time email it to shoebox@pasty.com, with any description or memory you would like to include. Have fun browsing through your shoebox!

And have a good week :o)

As the years pass on and on these pictures of days gone by become more priceless. I love and cherish old family pictures. In regards to the Pasty Cameo Father's Day pictures of us and our father's could my profile picture be used as part of this special Cameo? I'm not real computer swift, in e mailing pictures, but I managed somehow to get this picture of dad and myself loaded for my profile picture. Thank You! :)

Is Melody Hayes from Lake Linden? The family had
a cottage at Rabbit Bay years ago? I'd like to
make contact with that family.

Thank you for the warm memories of your father. I recall his store on the east side as I attended East Elementary grade school. Later, we moved to 25 location (West Fleshiem Street)and my sister and I often rode to church with you in the Ford Falcon. Your parents were wonderful people.

No, sorry, not from Lake Linden. Iron Mountain was my home.
