Nice pictures today. I am curious about the 2004 look at the past: what is going on to attract all the people on the ice, in a relatively small place on the Portage?

The 2006 picture is my new desktop. I just love the lace look to it.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 - 07:59 am:

Thank goodness it's not a Polaris snowmobile! lol!

Question for the folks supporting the Ambulance Garage & the Calumet Theatre: Have you looked into the Readers Digest contest which Grand Marais is highlighted for?

There are 50 towns which will win. And the pot is $5M.

Very easy to vote once you're set up and we could start a cheer for both towns. Here's the info from that site:

Just type your town's name in the field above, and keep cheering - up to 10 times per day - till the final day of the contest. Then encourage friends and family to help you put your town on the map by registering and cheering.

Ahhhh, the Calumet folks are on top of it!!!

They are in there already. I'll start cheering for them too!

Lily the Bear is in her den with last years cub, Hope, and she is going to give birth again in the next week or so. Everyone is wondering how Hope is going to deal with the new baby or babies!http://www.bear.org/livecams/lily-hope-cam.html

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 - 04:27 pm:

Does anybody know if Lily had her babies yet?

By Hollidays (Hollybranches) on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 - 04:37 pm:

Click on the site mickill mouse. She's not due till the end of January. It's a great site to learn about black bears.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 - 08:31 pm:

I saw her last year as she was giving birth to that cub.
