The colors are slowly turning here in the Keweenaw, as you can see by today's photos from John Sturos. He took these two photos just 4 days ago of the Lift Bridge shrouded in some morning fog and then he turned his camera around and captured this pair of fisherman further up the canal. Both shots show the calm of the morning with nary a ripple in the water and the reflection standing out well, because of that stillness. You can't see much color at all in these photos, but I think that's partly due to the haze in the air and the morning lighting. If you're planning on coming UP North for a color tour, the colors are popping out more and more in the last few days, but I still wouldn't say they're at peak quite yet, so you still have time for fall color viewing.

I absolutely love any bridge picture you put here. It is so beautiful to me! Thanks!

The Lift Bridge shrouded in fog adds a mysterious quality to it. They are both lovely, inviting photos! Thank you, Mary & John Sturos.

Great pictures!

Superior pictures! I like the way the fog "frames" the bridge. I would not mind being in that boat.

Canadian Olympic arrived at the Yalmer Mattila dock in west Hancock and unloaded road salt for the upcoming winter. Did they run into this foggy weather. Any pictures of this arrival and do they ever go completly thru the canal towards Jacobsville?

I'm with you Janie T. -- I'd love to be in that boat too -- can almost feel the peace and serenity just looking at the picture.

Both of those pics are beautiful, but that top one should be framed. I love the foggy reflection in the water. It's just stunning!

The first picture is fantastic, to bad that building to the right is in the way. ;O(

I espcially love the second picture. It is so peacful and calming. I would frame the second picture.

these are a couple of great pics. Yep .. that new apartment building needs to be out of th epicture. A bit of Photoshop work will get rid of that :)

I keep coming back to look at that second picture. I just sit here and take a deep breath and just go 'Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Reminds me of when we go up to Oscoda and ride out River Rd. to the Ausable River and just stand there and listen to the quiet as the water goes by ya. It is so quiet out there you just whisper to each other and wonder why the heck are you whispering? ;O) peaceful and quiet like there is nobody else in the world.
