Good morning from Mishawaka IN. I say 11.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 10:33 am:

Takes more than a scarf to prevent me from singing, just ask Mr. Deb, lol.

In response to Bill retiring and me not cooking as much, from yesterdays postings. Bill is always fine with what I cook and if I do not want to cook he is fine with that, too. He never was picky. I just prefer not to cook that much now. We end up with so many leftovers sometimes when I cook all the time, it is ridiculous. When he worked- he use to take some to work with him. I never liked to cooked before I met him. I rather do dishes, clean, laundry, even some yard work to keep from cooking. He knew from day ONE I do not like to cook, but I did because I love him ;O)

I suppose we're off-topic 'today', Mickill, but to answer someone else's question this morning (sorry I forgot the name)...the way I figure it, even though I never worked outside our home, I worked plenty 'inside' it, so when my husband retired I thought it was fair to 'retire' a bit from my work also. Reasonable, huh? Plus, he does some of the cooking now, and loves it.:)
Charlie, hope you and Edie have a continued safe trip home....at least looks like you have better weather in which to travel.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 11:44 am:

Oops! I should've checked the radar before my last statement (above), doesn't look too good around the Mack Bridge.....says 'one lane closed'. Drive carefully, Charlie. God speed!

I have a full time job, as well as my "homework" job with our 20 acres and 10 horses, I don't really cook on a regular basis either. Maybe 3-4 times weekly.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 01:34 pm:

Hey Mickill, when my wife and I retired on the same day, January 31, 1996, we would go out to eat quite often, 5 out of 7 days a week, (true story, scouts honor). One day we were driving out the driveway and I asked "Where do you want to go"? She answered "someplace I haven't been" and I backed up and drove back in the garage. The doctor said my eye would opn up in a few days!

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 01:34 pm:

Shirley...I never worked "outside of the home" til the kids started leaving the nest. If someone would ask if I worked..I'd say No, the housekeeper/maid took care of the house & six kids" Smarty... When we became retired empty nesters that was one thing I hated. I still had my "job" while someone laid around waiting to be taken care of. After 50 years of planning and fixin' meals, etc. I quit! He was disgusted that I quit canning and sewing both of which I disliked! 'Nough about that...

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 02:08 pm:

Kay and Paul, I love both your answers!! Waytago.....;)

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 02:14 pm:

OH PAUL; THAT IS SO FUNNY. SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING BILL WOULD DO.

A LOT OF TIMES BILL LIKES TO BE IN THE KITCHEN WITH ME. HE DOES COOK, TOO.

IT IS ALSO A JOB IF YOU ARE, OR WERE, A STAY AT HOME WIFE. TAKING CARE OF KIDS AND THE COOKING, CLEANING, SHOPPING, THAT IS A JOB IN ITSELF. THEN WHEN THE HUBBY CAME HOME YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO HOW HIS DAY WENT. A FULL TIME JOB. SOMETIMES I WOULD MAKE A DOUBLE BATCH OF SOMETHING AND FREEZE HALF OF IT.

I LOVE MY CROCK POT. ;O)

MAKE HOME SAFE EDIE AND CHARLIE

P.S. I AM MAKING TACO SALADS TONIGHT. THE ONES THAT YOU PUT EVERYTHING IN A EDIBLE BOWL.

OUR SNOW IS ABOUT 95% GONE.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 06:22 pm:

The rest of the story! This same wonderful woman has a sign in her kitchen that says " The only reason I have a kitchen is because it came with the house!"

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 06:45 pm:

Hey, Paul, where can I get one of those signs! lol

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 09:43 pm:

OH! Paul; That is to funny. I feel the same way about my dishwasher. We never use it. I have a couple of pots and pans in it for storage, but we never use it. We put it going at least twice a month to keep the pipes clean, but by the time we fill it up all of our dishes would be in it. There is just the 2 of us here.

Shirley - Crossing the Straits was a bit difficult because of very high winds Sunday, gusting almost to 60 mph. Finally made it to Marquette, where we are spending a couple of days.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, December 29, 2008 - 08:08 am:

CHARLIE. Sooooo glad you and your wife made it across the bridge and not to far from home. Be safe.
