According to the historic sign featured on this day a few years back, what happened in 1897?

I think I have had the Early Bird maybe three times. The first was the day my daughter graduated from high school, and now we are in South Carolina and watched her play her last college volleyball game last night. Time goes by so fast. We are so proud of her. Now back to the cold in IL.I hope a lot of great things happen for people on this day.

Good morning everyone! 26 degrees here in Houghton. Ground is covered with snow, leaves under the snow, didn't get the raking done this fall, oh well, guess the cleanup will be done in the spring.

Good morning everybody! Not sure of the temp here, but the wind has been howling for 2 days making it seem much colder than it really is. Not exactly my time of year, let me tell you. But it's only gonna get worse so I guess we might as well get ourselves used to it.

Have a great Sunday everybody! Go Lions! The newspaper out here graded the teams and the Lions got an F-. Didn't know you could get lower than an F, but they managed it. They said the good was Calvin Johnson, and the bad was everything else, lol. I still love those Lions. One of these years they'll make me proud, if it happens while I'm still around. How we miss Barry Sanders. I just loved him!!!

Semper Fidelis to all you Marines out there! Thank you from the bottom of my American heart!

We have something that looks like snow here in Lansing this morning. I guess it is inevitable. I'm glad it has waited this long. I remember trick or treating as a kid in the UP in knee-deep snow...of course, my knees where a bit closer to the ground then.

In the first picture is the "Belle River" named after that river which crosses our road here just aways from us!
What ever happened to that ship? I assume it's been renamed, anyone know to what?

By Bob Jewell, Farmington Hills (Rjewell) on Monday, November 10, 2008 - 10:32 am:

Russemmons
The Belle River was renamed the Walter J. McCarthy Jr. See http://www.boatnerd.com/
