Quiz for today: What position in the administration of which US president was held by James Watt?
When asked what he feared most about environmentalists, his response was simple:
"I fear they are pagans."

By Liz B (Lizidaho) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 07:16 am:

Secretary of the Interior and he still lives in Jackson Hole

Good morning all! I can smell those pasties from the slide show. Nothing smells better than pasties while cooking!!! Maybe this weekend.

Have a great day all!

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 07:56 am:

Me too Deb...I've had making pasties on my "to do" list for a couple of weeks...maybe this weekend. If I don't get to it, what time are you eating at your house?

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 07:56 am:

Time to get it moving for the day. Have a good one. :O)))

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 08:22 am:

We usually try to have them about 2 or 3 o'clock. That way our stomach's have settled by the time we go to bed because we've stuffed ourselves full, lol. Come on over!!!

By Dave Jaehnig (Yooperdave1) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 08:41 am:

I, and I suspect a lot of other Copper Country old timers, have been wondering about this for a long, long, time and I finally worked up the courage to register on Pasty.com to ask other users this question:
I may be alone in this, but one of the things that I truly miss about the Copper Country of my childhood is polka radio shows. Lodi Mihelich, Polka Rendezvous, you know the shows I mean. Thanks to Brian Juntikka, we have one polka radio show in the Copper Country yet. But does anyone else have a desire to see the return of polka music and polka dancing to the Copper Country?

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 09:05 am:

Yooperdave1 -- Build it...they will come! If I lived UP there now I would get some polka parties going, with lessons and live music. What fun that would be!!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 10:04 am:

BRING BACK POLKA MUSIC AND ALL THE FUN THAT COMES WITH IT. MY MOM AND I USE TO LISTEN TO POLKA MUSIC A LOT. SHE ALWAYS SAID I WAS THE ONLY ONE OF HER KIDS THAT LIKED THE THINGS SHE LIKED :O)))

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 10:21 am:

Good Morning. Maybe pasties Sunday, hmmm.

By Kenty (Dashamo) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 11:04 am:

Pat and Glenda--Secretary of the Interior under Ronald Reagan.

By Pat & Glenda (Gormfrog) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 11:28 am:

Liz & Kenty..thanks.
The point is with elections coming up, no matter how it turns out, the people in place must be open to all ideas, without prejudice towards the source. What is right is right. What is wrong is wrong. We should be able to figure things out...don't think we are dealing with pagans.

WOW!! The name Lodi Mihelich brings back memories of my grandparents, aunt and uncle listening to him. That goes way back to when I was little.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 10:11 pm:

Hei polka people, c'mon to the Covington Multi- Purpose Building on Sunday, Nov. 2. Kilpela and Friends are playing for a dance from 2 - 6. Get your cholesterol lowered by dancing to the polkas, schottishes and waltzes. Probably even have a chicken dance! Maybe the weather will hold for us. But, I remember the polka parties on WHDF with Lodi Mihelich, too. Ivan Kobasic used to sponsor the polka party in Esky, too, on WDBC.
