Lake Superior and Lake Michigan

Actually the Mighty Mac is over the confluence of waters between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan.

Straits of Mackinaw and Dead River crossing, I think.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Thursday, October 9, 2008 - 07:29 am:

Straits of Mackinac and the Dead River. I found it with this spelling.

Five Early Bird entries in 2 minutes. Some kind of record. Breakfast pasties all around!

Technically, the correct answer is this one, considering the spelling.

Here is a good way to remember correct spellings. There is a city and four other landmarks to remember (fort, island, bridge, straits = FIBS). The city is the only one where the name ends in w. Mackinaw City. The FIBS all end in c:

Fort Michilimackinac
Mackinac Island
Mackinac Bridge
Straits of Mackinac

Yup, good mroning! Yup, Straits is spelled like that but sometime by habit, we spell it the way it's normally spelled.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. The weekend starts after work today for me and it's onward and upward to the UP.

Have fun Deb...I hope you see some good color. I will be heading UP next weekend, so save some leaves for me. (Take the glue-stick :)

The 2002 photo is fantastic...I can almost hear the waves.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Thursday, October 9, 2008 - 08:20 am:

What a great weekend for a trip Deb. The weather is supposed to be great, at least down here below the Bridge. Say hi for me while you're UP Nort', eh! Have a safe journey...watch for deer.

By RD, Iowa (Rdiowa) on Thursday, October 9, 2008 - 08:47 am:

That's a good way to remember spellings. The FIBS all end in C and the CITY ends in W. But is should be added, they are all pronounced with an AWE and never an ACK.

Just a quick heads up, the Redwings open their defense of the Stanley Cup tonight! Thought you'd all like to know. I'll be watching HNIC in da U.P. on Saturday, life is good.
Mr. Deb

When people say "ack" I ask them 'do you have a hair ball'?.
