Regarding our "Day in History", there is some uncertainty surrounding Mother Jones' date of birth. Some claim it was 7 years later, that she died at 93, not 100. But by her own account, her birthday was May 1, 1830.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, May 1, 2008 - 06:51 am:

Good Morning, Everyone! We'll be heading up to Copper Country this afternoon, for my oldest son's graduation from Michigan Tech on Saturday! I hope the weather won't be as rainy as the forecast I was reading last night before I went to bed suggested. I hope to see my favorite waterfalls, running fuller than they were last summer when I last saw them, and many of my other favorite scenes! Take care, you all.

By Cheryl Rozman (Cotton) on Thursday, May 1, 2008 - 07:02 am:

Marianne, We're heading down your way (Lansing) to our daughter's house. She invited her me to come along on a trip with her husband & baby to Virginia Beach, Virginia for a week. I'll be kind of a Nanny so they can go off & do things. I think it was nice of them to think of doing that. I get to go on a vacation & also enjoy my darling granddaughter too. So I'm hoping we have nicer weather there than up here.
Congratulate your son on his accomplishment at Tech & hope he finds a good job soon with his degree. Enjoy your trip to the UP.

Happy anniversary to the Debs. Eleven years right? Two of the nicest people I know. Ron, fisherman, husband, and housekeeper. Deb, wife, mother, grandmother, and financial wizard. Thirty nine and a grandmother, imagine that.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, May 1, 2008 - 10:06 am:

Marriane, glad to have one bill less to pay, right? My youngest has been working and out of college for ten years. Congratulations to the young man, and welcome to the working world. Did the same thing as him forty four years ago. Time flys. Cheryl, have fun in the sunny south. Hope you wont be taking your son in laws car.

By Liz B (Lizidaho) on Thursday, May 1, 2008 - 11:23 am:

Happy Tie the Knot day to the Debs from Snowy Idaho. No dancing around the maypole today. So I brought chocolate (brownies) to work for the gang. Maybe we will have a snowball fight on the quad or make angles or some such nonsense. It is ride the bike to work month, too. I walked. Marianne, Congratulations on your Toot's grad day!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, May 1, 2008 - 06:13 pm:

By Edward & Dolores Fulcher (Eddee) on Thursday, May 1, 2008 - 09:50 pm:

Marianne Congratulations on your son's graduation.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, May 2, 2008 - 07:44 am:

Thank you everybody for the well wishes. We had a delightful anniversary celebration last night. The two 3rd grand grandchildren had their spring concert last night and that's how we spent our evening. LOL Afterwards it was gourmet treats for them and us (and the 5 year old) at DQ. As Mary says, grandchildren are what it's all about so I didn't mind sharing my anniversary with them. They're great.

Mikie, how'd you know I was only 39???

It's such a hoot for me to hear the Tech students called "TOOTS". I hadn't heard that in ages until this site. I had to explain it to Mr. Deb. He thought it was great. Also had to explain what the "local" students were called. LOL Congrats to Marianne's son. My son changed majors so I'm afraid he won't finish this year after all. More bills!!!

Cheryl, have a great time in Virginia and spoil that grandbaby!!! We have another one coming in July too, a little girl. I'm just so young to be having all these grandkids! But I'm loving it.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, May 2, 2008 - 07:45 am:

OOPS! That was supposed to be 3rd GRADE grandchildren. I can't remember how they said to correct that. Sorry.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Friday, May 2, 2008 - 11:11 am:

Congradulation on the Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Deb!... and Marianne, I am sorry I missed posting yesterday on the day you left for the UP. I know your oldest graduating has been one, of your many dreams for your children, finally coming to pass. :) Enjoy!
My oldest sister Pat started her retirement today as well. Gee, I only have twelve years to retire, because she is that many years older than me. It is a new age for our branch of the Brunk family.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, May 5, 2008 - 12:01 pm:

Thank you all for your congratulations and well wishes on our oldest son's graduation from Michigan Tech! We had a great time in the UP, in spite of the weather. I'll have to write more on that part later. We got home last night. Our son gets home next Sunday, as he has to work this week and Saturday night up there! Thanks again! :-) I have to catch up on a few things at home, and I'm exhausted today.
