Just over a week ago, the weather was quite nasty with strong winds and blowing snow. During that barrage of inclement weather, most people stayed hunkered down in their warm and cozy homes. Not Aladino Mandoli, he braved the elements and ventured to the shores of Lake Superior, in the Marquette Harbor, snapping an interesting shot of the Lighthouse looking all vivid red, while the rocks and ice seem subdued in contrast. Maybe it's all the white in the scene, making everything fade into the picture?

Dino reported that the temperature was -2°, with 30 mph winds as he made his way to the Breakwall in the Harbor and captured one churned up, angry lake. You can just barely see the Breakwall Light amidst the thrashing and crashing of the waves. Quite the frigid looking scene, yet beautiful at the same time!

Great pictures but it looks awfully cold. Our temperature is warming up. It's all the way up to -4.

By Mel, MN (Mehollop) on Thursday, February 21, 2008 - 04:11 pm:

Yeah, the winds were pretty crazy when the temps dropped back into the basement. Thankfully it was fairly calm yesterday while I was out working in the woods, since the temps were still in the negative teens. All the wind plus bitter cold and sunshine has built up a very nice crust on the snow, so it's easy to get around with the snowshoes.

I have to admit, I've never had to kneel to measure diameter at breast height before!
