This is the 10th autumn of the Pasty Cam. While all the seasons are enjoyable here in the U.P., I think the Fall is my favorite.

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 10:04 am:

Good Morning. 32 degrees and sun coming out, might not be such a bad day afterall here in Houghton.

By Carole (Carole) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 10:05 am:

Good Morning, a bit frosty here in Holly.

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 10:05 am:

frost on the ground in wisconsin ...
Chilly good morning to ya

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 10:09 am:

Wow! Now that's B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Man I wish I was walking down this road, with a companion. Maybe with a hot drink, listening to the birds and sounds of the UP to surround my senses. This more than anything brings tears to my eyes. I wish I was home. :(

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 10:10 am:

Beautiful morning here in Denver. I'm actually writing this while sitting in a session on earth history, which is something I'm always interested in. The Dr. is sitting next to me and says Hi to everyone......

By NKR (Nkr) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 10:18 am:

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. 40° and sunny this morning. We have a freeze warning for Monday - 2AM to 9AM. Not alot of color here.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 12:03 pm:

That really is a beautiful shot. Good morning everybody. We got our first real frost this morning. But it's warming up nicely now.

It's almost football time. How 'bout those Wolverines beating the mighty MN. Gophers. They didn't even need their starting QB or RB to beat that team. They are pathetic! LOL

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 12:16 pm:

That is a Gorgeous autumn picture in the woods, in full color, with leaves gently falling...We did not have much of a fall here in mid-Michigan. Some of the leaves fell while they were still green, while others turned a muted shade of what they normally would, and still others just turned brown. Sigh. Oh well, there is always next year.

Hi there, everyone. Happy Sunday.

By Kathy P. (Katiaire) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 12:59 pm:

Yep, Go Blue.

Certainly hope Henne and Hart recover soon. Don't know how much further the Wolverines can go without them. It was a good move, though, to rest them this week as obviously MN was not a big threat.

Still can't figure out what happened with Applachian State and Oregon. Have always said Michigan only plays up to the ability of their opponents, but Geez...

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 01:21 pm:

Actually, the loss to Oregon was not a fluke! They have a great team and might move up to #2 this week. Plus, Henne didn't play that game either. And you're right, they do only play up to their opponents ability! Plus, I think that poor excuse of a field goal kicker missed 3 field goals against Applachian State, which would have been enough for a win. If only.......

By Liz B (Lizidaho) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 01:47 pm:

Great Day to all from Idaho. Sun, blue sky, a bit of a nip in the air but good outside window washing day. Can really see the streaks.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 02:51 pm:

Do we have any wine connoisseurs out there? I'm making pasties and we were having a discussion (as I was washing out new wine glasses) about which wine would taste best. I only like 2 different types of wine. One type is asti-spumante, and the other is lambrusco. Anyone, anyone??? Actually, the best thing to drink with a pasty is a huge glass of ice cold milk....AND NO KETCHUP!!!!!

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 03:06 pm:

I think you should try a merlot, Deb :)
Its a red wine, pretty mellow...it goes down really easy and I think would compliment a pasty.
http://www.winepros.org/wine101/grape_profiles/merlot.htm

btw, I'm not a big wine guy, but I do like merlot alot

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 03:29 pm:

Ice cold milk, as Deb mentioned, or beer, are what go best with pasties. However, as a wine lover, I'd say go with whatever wine you like!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 03:33 pm:

Thanks David and maija,

I'm not a big wine person either but if merlot is good with it, then I'm imagining that so would lambrusco be.

I just finished my pasty with a big glass of milk. It was delicious. And it didn't need ketchup either.

Thanks for the website Dave.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 03:36 pm:

Absolutely gorgeous pic today from 8 yrs ago, but if you click on the link, it's not on that page. Who's the photographer?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 04:31 pm:

And here I thought the wine of choice would be Boone's Farm, Mad Dog or Bartles and Jaymes!
Mr. Deb

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 05:11 pm:

Mr. Deb; Don't forget about Annie Green Springs, I am a real wine connoisseur.

Captain Paul, are you sure you're not sitting in a sky box at Sandlot Stadium watching the Red Sox kick the Colorado Rocky's butts? That would be considered Earth History because it's a down-to-earth game that will make history. :o)

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 05:43 pm:

Deb you are correct, Oregon is not a fluke, many think they should be #1 over the Buckeye's and I think I agree! They would beat Ohio State.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 05:47 pm:

Oh Yeah, Today's pic on the whats up page is FANTASTIC, I can see us 4x4 down that road or one very similar real soon.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 05:48 pm:

I know, everybody thinks the Wolverines are terrible because they lost their 1st two games. I was deeply upset with them too. But the more I watched Oregon, the more I knew that they are a good team. They beat USC this week. I'm hoping not because I'm a Michigan fan, but I've been hearing rumors about an Ohio State/Oregon championship game. I personally would like to see the Wolverines get a rematch. And I definitely want to see them beat out Ohio State in the final game of the Big Ten season.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 05:51 pm:

What about dem dere Lions? They weren't sleeping tonight! :o)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 06:04 pm:

A couple more wines for your consideration...Ripple and Cold Duck!

By Kathy P. (Katiaire) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 06:12 pm:

Michigan over Ohio State is always a fan's wish, no? And it would be nice to see a rematch with Oregon. Is nice week-end the Michigan v State game?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 06:19 pm:

Ah yes Janie, no collection would be complete without them!!
Mr. Deb

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 06:51 pm:

Yup, Michigan vs. State next weekend. Then they play Wisconsin and finish off with Ohio State. I think that's the game that everybody waits for every year. This year it's at Michigan so I hope it's a good year. Unfortunately, the next 2 are away. And State is always pumped when they play the Wolverines. It's always a good game. Go Blue!!!

By FJL (Langoman) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 07:46 pm:

I think the photographer is John Dee. The dogs look like they might be his.........

Editor's note: Right you are FJL (Langoman), you can check it out in the Archives here: Oct. 27, 2000. This photo was more "in season" than the actual shot eight years ago today! :->

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 09:03 pm:

Ok, I just got home from putting up 6 count 'em, 6 strings of Orange Halloween lights at my sisters house and the choice of drink with a Pasty topic came UP. So I have to put in my 2 cents. I like a 'Rose or a Zinfandel, red. Followed by a lil' shot of Blueberry Schnapps to set the taste buds for the next. My Mother was partial to Baby Duck, which is very hard to find in the States. And speaking of Spumate, there is a inexpensive brand of Asti called 'Verdi' that is sweet and crisp, and imported from Italy, that I find goes with just about anything (fish, pork, chicken and beef) And the ketchup/gravy thing..... well, to each his own I always say, so please pass the.........(fill in the blank.) As long as the plate of Pasties doesn't get PAST me.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 09:14 pm:

ROFL Theresa! I guess great minds ran together today whether we knew it or not.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 11:10 pm:

No baseball for us, although we saw Coors Field from where we ate lunch today. Actually we have a much better game tomorrow night to go see in person....... ;-)

I agree that a nice merlot or shiraz would go well with a pasty.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 11:30 pm:

Capt. Paul, are you going to the Packers/Colorado game!? Lucky you!

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 11:37 pm:

Also a note to Sharon Smith. Today I spent a couple hours poop scooping at the local Heartland Pet Rescue and got a wonderful dose of kitty loving....all 80 of them. Now I'll get on a regular schedule. Now I won't have so much kitty envy. I still love hearing the latest of your darling critters.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 11:47 pm:

Way to go Lions! It's about time you all came up with a winning record! I was getting tired a year or two ago, of hearing Jay Leno pan the Lions, week, after week, after week!

Paulwebbtroll, how did your team do in the playoffs this weekend? (I'm sorry, I forgot who your team is, I just remembered that I think they were undefeated?)

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Monday, October 29, 2007 - 03:06 am:

Marianne, we lost to New Lothrop, last years state champions, 28-14. It was a good game and the best team won. Our guys had a great season and we are very proud of them. Thanks for asking.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, October 29, 2007 - 09:11 am:

You're welcome, Paul. Thank you for your answer. That is all anyone can ask, that your team play their best, play a good game, and that the best team win, especially when you are playing the team that won the state championship last year. You have every right to be proud of your team. They did have a great season!
