Lovely reflections of an Upper Michigan Autumn eight years ago on the Pasty Cam.

Charlie, I think you got the picture upside down!?! I can see ripples in the water to the right and usually the color of the sky reflected off of the water is darker then the real sky.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 06:23 am:

Good morning! TGIF!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 07:07 am:

Good Morning, Everyone!

That is an awesome picture, with the autumn color reflected from the lake without even a ripple!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 07:42 am:

Good Morning!!

I totally agree with you John, that pic is upside down. Unless, this was taken in Antarctica where everything is upside down all the time anyways ;-)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 07:53 am:

Good morning! That is a simply awesome picture.

It's a 3 day weekend for us. I'm excited as the weather is supposed to be gorgeous. Have to get some grass seed and fertilizer spread this weekend and maybe get the vehicle cleaned out. I'm betting this weather won't last much longer. May even get a round of golf in.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 08:21 am:

I'm excited for the nice weekend too, going to get out while I still can. We haven't even had a frost yet down here!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 09:21 am:

I just read an IM from my son that he sent after I fell asleep last night. He's not there now, so I can't confirm it. Anyway, he said that some guy fell overboard off the Keweenaw Star last night by Hancock Beach? Is that right? If so, is the guy ok? Can he swim, etc? Or is this a hoax, but he normally would not joke about something like that.

By The (Zman) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 10:31 am:

Marianne, You can find more info on the TV6 web site about the accident.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 10:35 am:

Ok, I guess the story is true. That is something my son would never joke about. Anyway, the story popped up on WLUC now:

My thoughts and prayers go out to this young man's family.

Nice Fall pic, we've seen similar views real time if you will.
Overcast today, a bit chilly in the camp, might have to have a little fire in the stove to keep GN warm. Still, great to be U.P. here.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 10:38 am:

Sorry, Zman, your post appeared while I was writing mine.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 10:41 am:

Does the Coast Guard normally have a helicopter stationed near Houghton-Hancock? If not, where would the chopper be coming in from, out of curiosity?

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 11:01 am:

I believe Traverse City, Marianne, although I believe Duluth has a CG chopper now as well; those would be the closest ones.....

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 11:56 am:

Thank you, Capt Paul. So there is not even a chopper in Marquette?

By derek tuoriniemi (Derek) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 12:24 pm:

the nearest chopper assigned to the keweenaw region is out of traverse city...

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 02:25 pm:

I'd been told that our nearest emergency chopper was at Marquette, when a skier broke his back on Bohemia a few years ago.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Friday, October 5, 2007 - 05:28 pm:

Holy wah! It's snowing at my place! Just kidding. I did have a snow-related question; Is it fact or fiction that Watersmeet got 1" of snow a few weeks ago? Couldn't rely on my source, he was a little "under the weather". Wanted to say "under the table" but I thought better of that remark.
Have a great Friday everyone!!!!
