Drive softly and carry a big stick. From 8 years ago, as seen in Iron Mountain.

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. A bright blue sky this morning. Will probably be up in the 90's today. Have a good weekend everyone.

Good Morning from Lodi, Ca. Finally got a break in our 100 + heat yesterday. It cooled off to 98.Last night was a chilly 64 after only getting down into the mid 70's at night for the last few evenings. Hey Beverly! Dry as a bone here also. Have had a few minor fires around us in the foothills. Keeping our fingers crossed that it's not a bad fire season.

Sanford & Son's truck?

Good Morning, blue skys sunny and warm already here in Berkley. Getting ready for the cruise Woodward has old cars cruising already. I am sure glad that we have central air, even Jimmie the fat white cat is enjoying it. He sure is lucky that he lives with me and isn't an alley cat, food at his beck and call, warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and all he has to do is look cute and rub white fur all over my legs.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 10:22 am:

Good morning! Another beautiful day. 07/07/07.
We had a brief but strong storm front go through our area Thursday afternoon. It only lasted 10/15 minutes, 1" of rain. some mothball sized hail which damaged some corn fields. Winds up to 60 MPH. Some trees down, lots of branches down and some damage to buildings. Our power was off for a couple of hours. Our crops are very good in this area. Most of the corn is very tall and there were a few tassels on the 4th of July, far exceeding the standard of knee high by the 4th. Beans are very good also. I saw the first combining of wheat on a MSU farm this morning. Enjoy the weekend!

Congrats Deb on the Early Bird. Have safe travels to Copper Country!!

Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll):
"We had a brief but strong storm front go through our area … Our crops are very good in this area … "

Not to pick on Paul (since this is quite a common problem), but it would be extremely helpful for those of us who are not psychic, if Cam Notes/WhatsUP contributors would identify where references like "our area," and "in this area" are located — especially those folks who choose to provide no clue at all in their profile!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 02:43 pm:

Paulwebbtroll...are you in Missouri by chance? Sounds like Iowa farming, but the wheat crop and MSU leaned me towards guessing Missouri.

By John W (Jwahtola) on Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 10:38 pm:

Paulwebbtroll do you live in the Weberville area of Michigan? They had a bad storm on Thursday. You were lucky to get some rain. Our crops here in Hillsdale county Michigan are showing heat stress. They are combining wheat in Lenawee county also. I saw some done on my way to Adrian from Pittsford that is in Hillsdale county.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 07:02 am:

Yes John, I do live in the Webberville, Michigan area. We drove down M-52 to the toll road on our way to Cleveland, Ohio recently and noticed the crops on that route. Janie, my wife would probably say I am a "show me" type of person. Sorry for the lack of info.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 08:20 am:

Tomatoes here in Berkley are doing fine, I have been watering them with a mixture of Palmolive soap and water. So far no bugs on any of the plants. My neighbor planted a garden then left to go to their northern home for most of the summer leaving me with the garden to take care of. I am not a gardener, but the garden is behind their garage and looks like it is in my yard, we don't have fences here. So I am forced to take care of her garden.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 08:45 am:

What is the vehicle in Saturdays picture used for?

Paul, here is the description from eight years ago:
"... it's a cleverly designed yooper tow truck, spotted in the Iron Mountain area."
Looks like it might be a "homemade" one at that! :->

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 09:23 am:

Mikie..trade you neighbors! our neighbor lady will not kill off or at least trim it back, the poison ivy that's growing on their side of our fenceline...she says it's a native plant. You can only imagine what their yard looks like!
