Captain Don Kilpela, Sr. sure knows how to live! Or maybe I should say he sure knows WHERE to live. This is the view out his breakfast room window in Copper Harbor. He took this shot around 6:00 a.m., before the ducks and geese were stirring, that's why there isn't a ripple to be seen on the water. Shortly after he snapped this picture a boat went by and that was it, the moment was gone and the mirror smooth lake was awakened for the day.

I nominate this one for the Pasty Cam 2008 Calendar. And Wall Paper of the Week, of course.

By Janet Boatman (Janetnwohio) on Monday, May 7, 2007 - 07:50 am:

We always go to that spot and take a loaf of bread and the grandkids feed the geese of course we enjoy it also. July will not come soon enough.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, May 7, 2007 - 08:04 am:

How lucky you are, Don!

By Dianne Keith (Deedee59) on Monday, May 7, 2007 - 09:11 am:

I would second that nomination, but I am biased on this pic. That lovely view is of Duck Island in Copper Harbor. My Grandfather purchased it back in the 1950's and it is still owned by the family today. Amazing how low the water levels are!

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Monday, May 7, 2007 - 09:11 am:

This picture is perfect, I could sit there all day and look at that.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, May 7, 2007 - 09:29 am:

I hear ya Janet, July will not come soon enough for us either. So, I wonder how "Duck Island" got its name??? :P

I can see one benefit to lower lake levels...... better agate hunting!!

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Monday, May 7, 2007 - 09:38 am:
