What a difference a few days make. Susan Hooker sent me these photos of her recent ski outing across from South Entry. For those of you looking for an exact location, I'm not certain of that, so if any of you geography buffs can pinpoint this spot, feel free! Susan did say that it was a beautiful sunny day and remarked that there were a few brave souls that went out beyond the ice chunks, which you see in the first photo. That sure is some beautiful scenery she had to be skiing by and then she zooms in for a better look at one of the frozen falls along those sandstone walls. After the warmer temps we've been experiencing, I wouldn't recommend skiing on the ice anymore or too close to those icy chunks on the walls either!

Great scenery!

Yikes! I would be very nervous being on that ice anywhere. It is beautiful, but I will have to enjoy it from a distance.

That looks so much better than our mud and slush!!!

Love the pictures and probably the last fun of winter.

Those cliffs are beautiful with the ice and snow.

susan, great pics. Also saw some pics of the Great Bear Chase in your folders. I had some friends up for it - FAST and fun conditions i've heard.

Great pics. It looks to me as if they are a little north of the south entry. Used to climb down the cliff face in the summer where the road comes real close to the lake and look for unusual rocks and driftwood.

Help me out on this: Is South Entry the Jacobsville area?

By Dave R. (Shutterbug) on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 - 01:42 pm:

Marsha, Yes, the south entry is near Jacobsville

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 - 01:43 pm:

I'm gonna vote for along U.S. 41 south of the Entry.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 - 02:29 pm:

I'm voting for closer to Baraga.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 - 02:52 pm:

I thought Assinnins.

By RCW (Rcw) on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 - 04:00 pm:

With a little imagination, the last pic could be an ice 'angel', 'eh? Good pix of the sandstone.
