The Pasty Cam encountered a blustery day with snow in the air eight years ago. Less bluster today for the Keweenaw, but there is a chance of snow. We missed the storm that swept through the southern UP and the mitten yesterday.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 06:47 am:

First PostEdie and I rode through that storm yesterday down in the banana belt (Escanaba area). In just a couple of hours there were 6-9 inches on the ground. Just a dusting here in Eagle River this morning.

GOOD MORNING FROM LITTLE BETSY!

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 07:00 am:

Just a dusting on the south side as well, Grampa Norm's got the stove really stoked! Ya have to wear short's, it's like a sauna in here. Great to be in the C.C. Noticed alot of Partridge in the woods, no deer seen as of yesterday. We're gonna hit the Hut today, and do more crusin, gettin ready for Wednesday.

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 07:47 am:

we got about 3-4 inches of wet heavy stuff here in Two Rivers Wisconsin. Power went out at 6:30PM Friday and came back on at 6:11 this morning. Got a bit chilly in the old igloo :)
We went to bed at 8pm when the juice didn't come back on. What are you going to doo by candlelight anyway? Well, there are a few things ;)

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:18 am:

I am now accepting Happy 55th Birthday wishes! And my 14th grandchild will be here in February!

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:20 am:

Last night in "Ill-annoy", we had severe thunder storms, rained so much we almost got the ARK ready. If it would have been cold enough we might have had a lot of snow on the ground. No such luck in this state.
HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY!

By Kenty (Dashamo) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:23 am:

Happy Birthday Marsha, and congrats on the soon to be new Grandchild.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:43 am:

Happy Birthday Marsha! I'll hit that milestone next year. Unfortunately, I only have 5 grandchildren. Congrats to you! I'm still waiting for more. There is nothing like a grandchild.

Thanks to all the Veterans out there who are reading this. We can't begin to thank you enough for all you've done for our country.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:57 am:

Happy birthday, Marsha! Deb, I also will hit 55 in Feb. No snow down here, just lots of rain.

By Charles In Esky (Charlesinesky) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 10:41 am:

I have been waiting for our first snow since moving up here from
Adrian. We got a bit yesterday -- so little that I could take care
of it with a broom. Saw highlights of the Calumet football game
on WLUC last night. They looked good even tho they lost. And
that Norway team looked very good in their win. The class of
the U.P., tho, has to be the Maroons of Menominee. I saw them
demolish Esky back in October and just marveled at their
precision and speed. It must be so hard for opposing teams to
prepare to play the Maroons with their single-wing offense
combined with their speed and precision. I look for them to get
at least to the state semifinals. Go, Maroons!

By Greta Armata (Gretania) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 12:43 pm:

Here in Milw we had the heavy rain, snow, sleet, hail, thunder and lightning...and of course it started just as the going home from work rush began. It was really quite a mess. Today it's mostly sunny, windy and a bit chilly. Hey Thumbgardner...I'll be 55 in February as well. We'll have to tip a glass in tandem. Marsha - I'm jealous with grandchild envy. But the son just got married in July and bought a house last week, so I suppose I could cut him some slack and wait some more. Oh the spoiling that will go on with the first grandchild!

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 01:07 pm:

Happy birthday Marsha 55 is the new middle age not to be thought of as old. Only have eight grandkids but favorite hobby is spoiling them. Today we are celebrating Tim Ozanich's birthday, one of the Berkley grandkids, he will be four on the 15th of Nov. and want to salute all my fellow veterens and remember the fallen heros of all wars including the cold war. Thanks for being there.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 01:09 pm:

Happy Birthday, Marsha. I passed the 55 mark nearly 9 years ago. Congratulations on the approaching birth of your 14th grandchild. I have 2- 1 of each and that is all there will be. So I really wish they would slow down on growing up.

Thunderstorms and rain came through Mishawaka, IN last night. With the rain lots of leaves are no waiting to be raked.

Thanks to all the veterans. We can never thank you enough. The honors class in US history interviewed and video taped 4 veterans, 1 each from Vietnam and Korea and 2 from World War II. They showed it to the school as part of the Veterans Day celebration. They a great job. Now those stories will be saved for future students to listen to.

Have a great weekend.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 01:59 pm:

Happy Birthday Marsha and congratulations on number 14! Bet you're busy shopping at Christmas time!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 05:51 pm:

Happy Birthday, Marsha. What a young grandma you are. 14
grandchildren--how many children do you have?

There were many parades and ceremonies in and around Toronto.
I am glad that they were being honored. My vets are all American,
and I can't help thinking of them today. There must have been
ceremonies in Iraq today where my son is stationed. Hope to hear
from him tomorrow.

Evening All.
A salute to all those vets who have served in far away places. Al tho I am also considered a vet, I could not hope to fill the shoes of those who have sacificed so much in their efforts in far away lands. Thank you one and all!!!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 08:23 pm:

kosk: I have 5 children. We adopted a family of 4 in 1978 and had a homemade daughter in 1981. She will be the mother of number 14.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 08:31 pm:

Marsha! How wonderful of you to adopt a family of 4. What we need are more people like you in the world. Again, congratulations on #14.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:23 pm:

Thanks for sharing that info. Marsha. All children are special. Our
children are either adoped or fostered. I have no point of
comparison but think that even if I did, it wouldn't matter. At least
not to me.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:23 pm:

Hey Dashamo, thanks for the well wishes! We're keepin grampa away from the stove, we go up stairs here at da camp and have to open da windows, just to sleep! Marty's 4x4 is equipped and ready, he even added a winch this year, so I hope I/we don't have to walk or swim out of da bush! Uncle Mike arrives tomorrow, sez, he wants to go Pat. hunting before opening day. Uncle Charlie and nephew Ben arrive on the 15th. I think if I can keep Marty and Ben under control in da bush, we might avoid Keweenaw Memorial this year! It sure is great to be U.P. here, we have a great time!

Had a GREAT meal at THE HUT today, recommend every one get in there, and give it a try. It was a little slow in there and our waitress said, we were her first customer, and that she was probably gonna be sent home, because it was so slow, so Marty and I made sure we tipped her very well.

As always, the coffee's on at L.B. get up to the copper country, perfect all year long!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:25 pm:

Japei--Why did you send that link? Just curious.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 09:27 pm:

Also saw four deer (2 bucks) tonight between Gay and Little Betsy, great to see.
