Joyce Tormala recently met up with some fellow travelers while on the road to who knows where. What I mean is I don't know where Joyce or the deer were headed here UP North, but of course that really doesn't matter, since they both seem to have stopped along the way to check each other out. Take a closer look at the deer on the right, it's actually TWO deer, you can see the extra set of ears peeking out at the base of the neck and there seem to be just a few too many legs underneath too. Joyce was outnumbered three to one!

Thanks for the neat pic & telling us to take a closer look at the deer on the right!

Hooray for Hancock! I heard on the news here in Lansing this morning that the State Christmas tree is coming from Hancock this year. They are putting it up tomorrow and then there is a big Electric Light Parade on Friday, November 17th, during an annual event called Silver Bells in the City that culminates with the lighting of the State Christmas tree in front of the Capitol Building. The evening ends with a show of fireworks, weather permitting. It's a fun time, but you better dress warmly!!

Nice picture! I looked to fast and missed the third deer.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 08:20 am:

Nice picture! What a tough life the deer have, trying to survive the elements!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 08:28 am:

Now that's a traffic jam I don't mind being stuck in..... ;-)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 08:32 am:

I love watching the deer. I could never shoot one even though I know it's necessary some times.

By Therese (Therese) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 09:09 am:

I looked and saw a very fat deer.

By Helen (Heleninhubbel) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 10:15 am:

Arn't they beautiful........poor things.....they have to scratch for food and dodge arrows....then bullets!!!! sigh ....... and I thought my life was rough !!!!!

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 10:26 am:

Maybe when they get fat they need more legs to motivate the weight?

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 10:48 am:

Helen, don't forget about dodging the coyotes and wolves. Balance of nature is sad but has to be done.

Is the lift bridge webcam down? The time stamp still says October 15th.

I have a link on all of my computers to that webcam and I love that view.....especially in the winter time. In fact, because of that picture I plan on making a trip up there someday, (Im in North Carolina) just to hang out in some coffee shop while its snowing and look out the window.

Nice shot! Looks to me like some of the roads near Ontonagon that we used to ummm, park on.

By FRNash/PHX, AZ (Frnash) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 12:19 pm:

It has been that way for months now, and many folks have asked, repeatedly, all with little meaningful response. The - uncharacteristic - silence is deafening!

My only guess is that a computer issue is involved, and the resident computer guru has been so busy with the re-opening of the Hut, and changin' light bulbs ...
( )
... that fixin' the BridgeCam has been purty far down the "round tuit" list.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 12:26 pm:

We say, "let the little one's grow" Aw heck, we don't shoot em anyway, we just like being in the woods, 4 wheelin, enjoying the CC, until Marty has to pull over, must be the smell of pine trees, lol

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 12:46 pm:

Gee Chuck, it sounds like yous "drink, play cards, and shoot da bull, but never shoot no deer"!! lol.... Sounds like my kind of camp ;-)

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 01:53 pm:

Hey Capt. Paul, more like, eat, eat, eat, go to Baraga, shoot da bull, & never shoot no deer! We gave up da drinkin part year's ago. It's Nov. 3rd and all most of us can think about, is gettin to da camp! One more week to go! Can't wait to get to the C.C. I'll be monitoring the wave height, with the web site you gave us, thanks, again. We do, do some serious 4-wheelin though.

Regards,
UC

By Melissa (Melissa5876) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 02:55 pm:

I thought that deer to the right looked kind of funny until I figured out that it was actually two deer! Nice photo!

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 03:45 pm:

I'm curious about why the road ends right there? What does the little sign say there at the end of the blacktop? Deer Crossing! (I know, I'm leaving myself wide open asking what the sign says! Nothing, right?)

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 04:30 pm:

It probably says "Pavement Ends."

By Steve Mattox (Lifeisgood) on Friday, November 3, 2006 - 10:26 pm:

why is the dear on the right look like it has eight legs...?

By The (Zman) on Saturday, November 4, 2006 - 01:01 am:

Steve Mattox.....Have you never seen a eight legged deer before? They are twice as fast as the standard four leggers. ;)>

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Saturday, November 4, 2006 - 07:44 am:

Z-Man, they also hear twice as good with that extra set of ears on their neck ;-)
