This shot is taken from Camp Lahti on Rabbit Bay (on the east side of the Keweenaw). Eight years later, we expect another nice day in the Keweenaw. This weekend, the Houghton County Fair continues its four-day run and Michigan Tech starts orientation for new students.

Is there any places in Copper Harbor or up that way where I will be able to get on line with my laptop when I am there? I will have a few things to do if I am able.

Thanks

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Friday, August 25, 2006 - 09:21 am:

James,

We have HotSpots in Eagle River, Eagle Harbor, Agate Harbor, and Copper Harbor. Why, you can even log on over at Lac LaBelle if you are a Pasty.NET member.

In Copper Harbor you'll find in-house wireless service staying at any of these:

Mariner North
The Pines Resort
Bella Vista Motel
Minnetonka Resort
Harbor Hideaway
King Copper Motel
Lake Fanny Hooe Resort and Campground

See? Getting up early, like 1130 am, pays off if you want to get the Early Bird! ;)

Came across this while surfing. Sounds kinda phony to me. Anybody ever hear anything about it?

Danbury, that was weird. Is there such a motel? and if so where is it located?

By James Ludos (Homesick) on Friday, August 25, 2006 - 11:31 am:

Thanks Charlie. I'll be at the North Port but maybe I can get close enough to a signal and get logged on.

James,

There are a lot of places to sign on via wireless in Copper Country. Mostly you can sign on by any hotel/motel. We were up there in July and one of the best parts of the trip is finding wireless internet. We were never without internet service, no matter where we went! You can park outside a hotel, in the parking lot and sign on there. Also if there is a coffee shop around they usually have the wireless internet also. Good Luck!

Interesting pictures jAPEi. Wish I could read Finnish!

Danbury: was wondering why you hadn't grabbed the early bird before! Regarding the ghost story:........

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Friday, August 25, 2006 - 01:15 pm:

No, Danbury. Never heard of it, but I am a sucker for ghost stories.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Friday, August 25, 2006 - 01:22 pm:

Japei: Like maija, I wish I could read Finnish. I enjoyed last year's
FinnFest in Marquette and a visit with long lost relatives. The last
pictures were from Canada. Were they from the FinnFest that took
place in Toronto a couple of years ago? I enjoyed that one too.

By Danbury (Danbury) on Friday, August 25, 2006 - 03:19 pm:

Kathy: I'm not sure. I thought I heard the name before and just assumed it might have been here on PastyCam, so I just went fishing, so to speak.

If there's none, well, maybe someone ought to start one? Northern Lights Motel - it does sound good to me. Maybe a nice spook would be good for business ...

maija: with me always getting a head start, right? :)
And now for the worms ... actually, apple quark.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Friday, August 25, 2006 - 11:58 pm:

Japei's Finnfest pix link is of the Marquette FinnGrandFest 2005. See the parade on 3rd St. and the dome? But there are pix from Niagra and Toronto. Kilpela and Friends played at a FinnGrandFest fund raiser dance in Toronto. We really had a nice time there. Kiitos, kiitos for the link, cousin Jarmo!
