Bridgefest, Houghton and Hancock's celebration of the beginning of summer, took place this past weekend. Some of you may remember Bridgefest's predecessor, the Houghton Hankinanny. You can see the little girl in pink -- no doubt collecting some candy thrown from those on the trailer. You never go home from a Copper Country parade hungry.

We continue to take nominations for photos for the 10th anniversary Pasty Cam Calendar. Please take a minute to nominate your favorite photo. You could start in the Cam archives, or perhaps in the WOW (Wallpaper of the Week) section of pasty.com. Just find your favorite photo, cut and paste the link in an email, and send it to 2007Calendar@pasty.com.

Capt. Paul: thanks so much for the info yesterday on how MD Anderson medical center is faring in the rain you are having. It was most reassuring to learn that my friends who are there were spared from the worst and treatment can go on uninterrupted and they can get to the center!

What a great site this is with people from all over helping us! I had been nervously watching the weather channel, but didn't know exactly where the medical center is. So, voila! A pasty cammer lives there!

Happy to report that the big rains Houston was supposed to get last night set up south of the city, closer to Matagorda Bay. All we are getting is some light rain and mist, but not the 8+ they were predicting.

No prob Maija!! MD is located on the southwest side of Houston, just inside the loop; the real problems were in the southeast side in the "hole". When I came in this morning I could see where the water had been, probably close to 2 feet on the side of my office building.

As I was driving back to my house yesterday I kept having 2 thoughts going through my head.......
#1, I want back in the Copper Country!!
#2, Good thing it's not about 28-30 degrees with all this rain; what is it, 1" of rain = 10" of snow, LOL

Sharon had another bear on her deck yesterday! She thinks it's a yearling.

Capt Paul....With regard to your thoughts there in Houston....#2...You can handle the snow (with a little help from Dr. Nat)....it builds character as well as muscle...regarding thought... #1....We need you here...Houston does not need you because they do not have rocks!!!....you must come back to the Copper Country because you must teach "Yoopers" all about the geology of the area and because you love our rocks...you know they are very special!!......a match made in heaven!!!

LOL trust me, if there was any way Dr. Nat and I could come back to the Keweenaw we'd be there in a second to teach every interested Yooper about the most geologically fascinating region in the world, right in your own backyards. Unfortunitely, our profession doesn't lend itself too well for getting jobs there. Guess it's time to play the lottery!!! ;-)
