Yooper, Great animation today. It is hard to believe that Valentines Day is next week. Wow. Am I the only one who thinks 2006 is a whirlwind? Maybe I am just getting old :(

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 08:52 am:

just returned from Hubbell and a great visit with my sister. I had a great experience in Baraga eatin at the cleanest restaurant that I have ever been in. It is called Irenes' Pizza on the main road. The pizza was good and the kitchen and the rest of the building were incredably clean. Really impressed me. Walked all around Hubbell and enjoyed the sights that I grew up with. Sorry to see that the coffee stop is closed.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 09:20 am:

Mikie, What is your sister's name? I went to school with a DuLong but she lives in Lake Linden.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 09:51 am:

Deb My sister is about seventy and went to school in Calumet at the Catholic High school Her name now is Mary DuTemple and lives on eight street in Hubbell. Also Her son is TiM Creedon.Had lunch at Lindells hasn't changed since I was a kid.

Mary says: Hi Mike, I just ran into your sister Mary in the Super Valu, this afternoon and she asked me if I spent any time on the computer, saying that you had asked her if she knew me! Yes, I'm the same Mary Drew that your sister knows, so I hope she told you all good things about me! ;->

Hey Sur5er and dlp,
I finally made it home a few days ago. It was a long and somwhat difficult trip, involvng a little room full of military guys in Burma, who didn't seem to like Americans, but I made it nonetheless. It's good to be back in the UP, see snow and freeze my rear end off. Man oh man, does 80 degrees make a difference!!!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 10:24 am:

Happy Valetines' Day to you too Yooper :)
Marc, Glad to hear that you made it home to your family, safe and sound. Sounds like you could have done without the dudes in Burma, eh. So how long are you home for? I bet it never seems like enough time, before you head back out to sea.
Hubby dropped one of his over the road routes, for a couple of day routes. So now he is home from Friday afternoon, till Monday night. The first weekend seemed to be endless...we weren't used to him being home for so long. But by the end of the month, those long weekends just started to fly by. It's amazing how we adapt, eh...and we're happy with whatever we get.

NKR and Charlotte...we're getting a little dusting of snow. Nothing to write home about ;) But on the bright side, at least it isn't rain :)

Sheezzzzeeeee Webbtroll....how come your up so early???

By dlp (Babyseal) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 12:40 pm:

Seismic,
Welcome back! Is there enough snow for you? I think we are about one inch away from the 200inch mark for season. Only 100 more inches to go......
Make sure you take in all the mittens in Hancock. I am gonna cause a wreck gawking, there are new ones every day. It's neat!

By happyooper (Trigal) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 02:14 pm:

Hey Marc, welcome home! Nothing like 80° here, but the sun is shining :)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 02:57 pm:

Mikie, We're talking about different DuLong's then. I went to school with Nancy. I think she went to Catholic school in Hubbell and I went to Catholic school in Lake Linden. Yeah, we went to Lindell's for lunch one day too. What wonderful memories that place holds for us.

By NKR (Nkr) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 05:25 pm:

Hello from Mishawaka IN. Hey Sur5er, we still have a little snow left on the ground and we're suppose to get some more this weekend. Come on Charlotte, get the snow dance going!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 06:47 pm:

Go Charlotte...go Charlotte....go Charlotte! Do the Snow Dance Doooo! NKR, do you think there is alcohol involved in that dance? ;)

By Lorelei (Lorelei) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 07:07 pm:

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 08:09 pm:

Boy what a site this is this evening! First chance to log on today. My feelings swing between thoughts of the Big Lake and everyone's giddiness on What's Up. You girls know you're a little off whack don't you? But don't change, the image of you out there doing a snowdance gives me the giggles. As for the dipping into The Lake, I'm so glad to hear that others do it too. It's usually years between visits due to personal situations. But it's time to renew my spirit in the lake. God willing I'll be there this summer.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 09:02 pm:

Good evening from Mishawaka, IN.

Sur5er and NKR, I can tell you for sure that 42 years ago today the dance was going. It was our wedding day and it snowed off and on all day with snow already on the ground. I'll do my best to get that ol' snow dance going for Saturday---only thing I want is to be able to go out Saturday evening and celebrate my birthday. So we'll get it going on Sat. and let it finish on Sunday.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 09:05 pm:

Back again. I forgot I was going to mention the pictures of the Lake. To keep me going until I see it again I collected stones last trip and made a little Lake Superior for myself. Put the stones in a glass jar filled with water. Every time I look at it I remember the good times at the Lake.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 - 09:33 pm:

Happy Anniversary, Charlotte :)
Hi Miss Katie :) Glad we made you giggle.
Lorelei, Now I can't get that song, "You Make Me Feel Like Dancin' " out of my head, after reading your post :) So c'mon down here, and help us with the snow dance.
NKR, I betcha there is alcohol involved in the Snow Dance Dooo...but Miss Charlotte ain't talkin :)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 07:10 am:

Here I thought the only ones who did snow dance songs lived in the Copper Country. Heiki Luntta (sp?) got played on the radio all the time. It was called Heiki Luntta's snow dance song and was it stupid. Everybody seemed to love it though. They even played it at dances. Those were the days!

By lz (Llamamama) on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 07:31 am:

I need to stay away from this website! Too much fun! I haven't been UP in years (life keeps getting in the way), but with all this fun and memories I am going to try to shoot for Easter!
Thanks guys and Sur5er stop with the songs. Now I have "You make me feel...." running through my brain. ;->

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Thursday, February 9, 2006 - 10:54 am:
