On the recent U.P. vacation that Cindy Conway & Michael Donnelly enjoyed, they spent a few nights in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan’s oldest city and had a hauntingly good time! They stopped in at The Palace, a Mexican/American restaurant, housed in a multi story stone & brick building downtown. Cindy said they were busy putting the finishing touches on their Halloween decorations, which were over-the-top spooky. In talking with their server, they discovered that long time employees at The Palace had seen things being moved, lights turning on & off, doors opening and closing, all just your usual ghost activity. The actual building opened in 1903 as the Northwest Hotel, so it has seen plenty over the years.
After Cindy and Michael got back home from their trip, Cindy did a little digging to learn more about this big old stone building and found that it used to house “The Bucket of Blood Saloon”, which continued to operate as a speakeasy during Prohibition, by posing as an ice cream parlor. There was supposedly a brothel on the premises at some point, too. If only the walls could talk...but maybe there are some things we don’t really want to know. Cindy wishes everyone a Creeeepy and Happy Halloween. And don’t forget to eat some candy, too!
To counteract all the spooky on the Pasty Cam today, we have some cute critter shots of rare and amazing animals from Photo Ark. The lead-in says: “The National Geographic Photo Ark, led by photographer Joel Sartore, is a multiyear effort to document every species living in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, inspire action through education, and help save wildlife by supporting on-the-ground conservation efforts.”

Hi Looks like the restaurant has gone all-out for Halloween. I wonder what the effect would be after having a few drinks. ;>)
The video was interesting. I could identify some but not all od the critters. The monkey clutching a stuffed animal and sucking its thumb was cute. Another animal with big eyes and an alarmed expression would have fit right in with scary Halloween effects.

Interesting restaurant and pics. The story of the building is even more interesting. A Bucket of Blood Salon that served booze and then a house of ill repute? Sounds like a place where Satin would hang out.

Was a Spooky looking place for sure! The PhotoArk video is wonderful, believe that bird at the beginning and end is a Bittern.

What was at the 1:07 mark in the video? It belongs in a horror movie!

Looks like a Tarsier, a small nocturnal primate.

Hi Alex, it'd be interesting to know who thought "Bucket of Blood" as a name would attract business...guess it must have.
D.A. and Cindy, I think you two are looking at what I called the "animal with big eyes and an alarmed expression". It looked alien but I think it is probably not nasty. And it is only about 3.5–6 inches long.
“Bucket of Blood “ sounds like the name of a heavy metal rock ‘n’ roll band!!

Kathryn & Cindy,
Yes, a Tarsier. Tiniest member of the Primate Family. That's WAY too much shared DNA to even sleep at night. LOL
