We’re back on the vacation route today with Cindy Conway and Michael Donnelly. They were on the Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway with a stop at the Point Iroquois Lighthouse which is no longer in service. This Light Station marked the entry to the St. Mary’s River. Cindy and Michael had visited there once before and really enjoyed not just the Lighthouse, but also the classic stonework, boardwalks and trails on the grounds. But nothing compared to the place all decked out in autumnal glory. There was even a prime picnic spot next to the Lighthouse, complete with a stone wall around it and leaves covering the ground.

MI Playground is in Munising and they’re taking us hiking on the Chapel Loop along the iconic Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, with peak fall color and a bonus stop at Miners Castle. They start off with breakfast in Munising, then head out on their hike. What a great way to spend a U.P. Fall day.

of Lake Huron beach in front of my vacation home. I can
hear the waves now...

Cindy, when were you on the Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway?
It looked past peak when I was there Oct 17. At any
rate, not as pretty as the year before. So I turned
around as soon as I could to take the shorter route
back to Mackinaw City.

These are spectacular! They have just about
everything, terrific color, lighthouses and
beautiful blue skies. Oh, and Lake Superior too.
Really nice, Cindy. I just can't choose a favorite
among the first 3. Just beautiful!! I sure am glad
we're still seeing beautiful fall colors here on
the pasty pages. I'm still seeing them in my yard,
too. I just love it!
