I forgot to mention on Wednesday with Cindy Conway & Michael Donnelly’s Tahquamenon photos, this was the first ever fall color adventure in the UP for them. Cindy said it is nice to finally be retired so they can travel when they want to and it was especially nice to be here in the fall when there were no biting insects and where most places had such spectacular colors.
On this day they headed to the Munising area, stopping at the Grand Island Harbor Scenic Overlook. That’s Grand Island on the left and the Pictured Rocks Cliffs in the distance on the right in the top photo. The second photo was snapped while driving the back roads of Hiawatha Township and taking in the fall colors out that way.
Next on their agenda was checking out several of the falls in the Munising area, Horseshoe Falls, which is a scenic little spring fed gem on private property, so there is an admission fee to visit this one, but there are other things to see and do there, not just the falls. Then it was on to one of their favorites, Wagner Falls, which is a short walk and always refreshing. Cindy said the leaves along M-28 were really looking great and the puffy cloud added to the beauty, also. They ran into some rain showers and then the sun, which of course produced a nice rainbow, between Seney and Shingleton. So they had color on the roadsides and color in the sky! Cindy also added that a few areas were a bit past peak, with more leaves on the ground and bare branches, but then elsewhere it was beautiful color, it just depended on where they went. Sure looks like they were successful finding color around them.
MI Playground was also in the Munising area recently and are giving us a look at what they said is the Most Famous Tree in Michigan. That’s Fall at the iconic Chapel Rock and the lone white pine at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It was a breezy day, you can hear the wind and the Lake Superior waves in the video... so make sure you turn your volume UP.

Beautiful pictures, Cindy. I especially like the first and fifth pictures. As Alex always says, you gotta love those UP blues.
Happy retirement! It's the best job I've ever had.

Hi All of the photos have their appeal, but the M-28 Roadside Color gets my vote by a whisker.
I agree completely about retirement. I'll add that Cindy is fortunate to have health and a friend to travel with.

Kathyrn, Amen to that!
Saw a great quote today from Morgan Freeman: "If you can get out of bed and don't fall down when you do it, then you just count your blessings and keep moving."
Kathryn, yep. M-28 is a beauty for sure. And amen to having a partner that you can travel with. And Amen to Morgan Freeman. He knows what he's talking about. I've anyways loved him and his voice.
