Jeff Dennis had Fritz up late recently for a drive to Little Traverse so they could check out the Northern Lights one evening. Jeff said these Aurora Borealis photos were snapped after midnight. So I bet Fritz had to sleep in the next morning, but from the looks of the photos, it was worth staying up late to watch those lights dancing in the sky over Lake Superior.
The bottom two photos Jeff captured at Lake Plumbago, also known as Alberta Pond across the road from the Sawmill in Alberta. The lake is a 16 acre scenic pond located about 9 miles south of L’Anse. Jeff snapped one shot of Chris paddling with a backdrop of yellow leaves behind her and then a photo of Fritz leading the way into the reeds surrounding the lake. These three always find some interesting places to explore.
Superior Wilds shares a video of the Aurora Borealis from October 9th, when it made an appearance on the horizon, while the Milky Way passed overhead. The clouds made the scene even more dramatic, almost haunting and eerie looking.

Wow, both the Aurora and Lake Plumbago are so very beautiful! My favorite has to be photo #1, even if Fritz looks a little sleepy being up past his bedtime. That video is really magical, love the passing clouds and how some of them are lit UP by the Aurora!

How beautiful! Fritz looks good with the lights!
I wish I lived near dark skies, somewhere!

Just spectacular pictures. Like Donna, I wish my yard was a little darker, but we have lights outside. I've still gotten some decent pictures of the lights though. Anyway, my favorite is Fritz as lookout. Love that dog!
