Kevin Dunham is back today with some beautiful photos of the recent Northern Lights display from Sand Point in Munising. He was up early to capture the Aurora between 5:30 and 6:30 in the morning. The stars in the sky, with the Northern Lights illuminating the scene are amazing and the reflections in Lake Superior are quite spectacular also.
In Kevin’s first shot you can see a streak in the sky toward the right side of the photo, then when you watch Kevin’s timelapse video of the Northern Lights (there is no sound), you’ll see the streak towards the end of the recording. Remember this is a timelapse, so the streak took longer than it shows in the video. Someone commented that the streak was actually 7 minutes long passing through at that time. I can’t substantiate that comment and there was speculation that it could be a falling star, a meteor or a rocket. No matter what it is, though, it’s pretty incredible that Kevin captured it like that!

Hi Lovely pictures. I especially like the reflection in the pools in the foreground.
Hopefully I'll see the Northern Lights in person sometime.

Wow, absolutely stunning! Thanks for getting up early and sharing your captures with us:) I wonder if that streak in the sky had anything to do with the recent Military exercises in Michigan? Pretty slow moving for a meteor.

Incredibly beautiful! The reflections are amazing! There is so much garbage in space now, who knows what that was?

These are stunning! You are a lucky guy to live where you live with your birds and northern lights, lol. I just love the stars.
