Two Hoots Trail is a new beginner trail at Swedetown in Calumet, for mountain biking, walking and such. From what I’ve read it starts and ends at the Chalet Parking lot and is 2 miles long. According to the sign in Beth Jukuri’s photos, it connects with other trails there also and is a non-motorized trail. Beth and friends took a refreshing walk in the woods there recently. I’m unaware if they encountered any live critters, but they did run into an owl carving that was quite unique, along with a pretty snazzy looking skunk replica and a natural art work...a huge knot in a tree on the trail. Looks like a nice place for a peaceful walk in the woods.

We’re taking a walk in a different woods with MI Playground, as they do some exploring in the Porcupine Mountain area and Lake of the Clouds. Nick Behling is doing some comparing of summer versus fall at Lake of the Clouds from the Escarpment Trail. Fall is just around the corner and some spots of color are already showing UP around here.

burls, and what unbelievable beauty comes out of
that, it amazes me at what some folks accomplish
with Nature as their medium.

Love the sculptures, both manmade and natural
along the trail. Think we need to add the Swedetown
Trails to our to-do list on a future adventure UP North.
Been a long time since visiting the Keweenaw, and
have a growing list of must see places around there!

Love the owl carving especially. The video showed the
presenter with hia hand to his head; I was thinking
"migraine" but more probably it was bugs.

Donna, Queen Elizabeth is right, sadly. I have a
related thought from Rudyard Kipling:
"Anger is the egg of fear" (Kaa the snake)

Also, Donna, a little while ago I shot down the
thought of me travelling to the Keweenaw. It wasn't
because I didn't think it worthwhile but because I
was leary about travelling alone. But I did the
Mackinac Bridgewalk with an old friend that I hadn't
seen in awhile. He's been to Florida, California, &
Arizona by himself. So we'll see.

Love the name of the trail. Looks like a really
peaceful place for a walk. I bet it's even more
beautiful in the fall.

Kathryn, I meant to tell you that i used to travel
my myself UP here when I lived in Minnesota. But at
my age now, I don't like to be by myself.
