Even when Donna MacIntosh doesn’t get out of her apartment, she still “gets around”. She was checking the Michigan Tech webcams recently when she spotted the Ranger III backing up from the dock, turning around in a spin move and heading east on the Portage Lake Canal. She figured it was going out for a Keweenaw Waterway tour, perhaps to South Entry, as they sometimes make a couple hour voyage that way. Donna recalls when she worked at Copper Country Mental Health years ago, when they used to take some of their clients on those tours on the Ranger III, it was always a highlight for both the clients and the folks that worked with them.

Donna also often checks the Isle Royale webcams to see what’s happening out on the Island and she shares a photo she downloaded recently of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Research Vessel Kiyi, docked at Mott Island in Isle Royale. This 107 foot vessel’s primary missions are fish stock assessment, habitat & ecosystem monitoring and contaminant monitoring on Lake Superior. Fun capture of it out at Isle Royale.

Today’s video is an older one from the Old Farmer’s Almanac about the August Full Sturgeon Moon, but what I found most interesting is the explanation of why you can sometimes see the moon in the daytime hours. Check it out!

That's really very cool, Donna. You probably get to
see more stuff than I do. Thanks for sharing this
with us. I'm always excited to see the Ranger when
we're stopped because the lift bridge is up for it.
Very cool.

Wow! Thanks for sharing Mary! I'm thrilled there
are all the webcams around the world!

Nice boat captures! Another UP destination I’ve
not been to is Isle Royale. Perhaps someday, but
still need to purchase my senior Lifetime National
Parks pass!!
