On a recent full moon event, the end of July, Joanne Furton set up at the marina near th North Pier Lighthouse in Menominee to photograph these shots of the full moon rising over the Light. Outstanding captures for sure, making the moon look super big, not to mention looking like it was right there next to the Lighthouse. Joanne said once she was back at home looking through her photographs, she noticed there had been a group of young people there, having a great time jumping off the pier. Great to see kids out there enjoying good, old fashioned summer time fun. She said they were most likely good swimmers, but they were also smart enough to wear life jackets, too.
How neat is this? Two days in a row, with a Visit Keweenaw “Crossing Place” video. This one is Copper Country History in Session at the Schoolhouse in Gay with Mel Jones, President of the Keweenaw County Historical Society and Nancy Sanderson, a member of the Keweenaw County Historical Society. Breakwater light, also on Lake Michigan.

Cool video. When we were little, Gram had one of
those old weaving machines, we all helped to make
carpets and Grandpa sold them roadside! Excellent
memories!
