Beth Jukuri (the first three photos) and Judy Byykkonen (the last three photos), along with several other lady friends headed to Ontonagon, on the shores of Lake Superior to enjoy their annual camping outing at a friend’s place. Beth said it was another successful camping trip to the “West Campground”, simply perfect and she added how very lucky they all are to have this time together. The ladies enjoyed each other’s company, while making several neat crafts together, including Rock Painting which is always a fun project. They also fashioned some decoupage Paper Lanterns and thought they might add some battery operated lights to them later. In the top photo, the ladies are on the shores of Lake Superior, gathering driftwood for the Driftwood Trees they made...I love how they surrounded them with lights in the evening. Between the tents all lit UP at night and the lights around the Driftwood Trees, they had a cozy home away from home.

I’m always excited when Visit Keweenaw publishes a new “Crossing Place” video. They always highlight a local place and are done so well, they make you want to visit them in person. We get a look at “Michigan’s Top Donut – Jamsen’s Bakery today. The lead-in says: “At the very end of US-41, you'll find what just might be Michigan's "top" donut. Sure, geography gives it the title. But it's the people who make it worth the drive. Jamsen's Bakery in Copper Harbor is built on generations of Copper Country heritage, Finnish family history, and the enduring spirit of a Northern Michigan community that has welcomed travelers for over a century. What began as a family fishing operation has evolved into one of the Keweenaw's most beloved lakeside gathering places, where scratch-made pastries, legendary thimbleberry donuts, and fresh coffee are served with the kind of hospitality that feels as timeless as Lake Superior itself.”

Wow, what a fun getaway for those lucky ladies!
Of course, a summer trip to the Superior shore is
never a bad idea lol! Enjoyed all their crafty little
items and nooks around camp, thanks for sharing :)
And though I’m pretty good at avoiding donuts,
a Thimbleberry frosted one might have to be an
exception! Cool video.

Hi
The ladies are blessed to have friends and a place on
Lake Superior that they can come back to each year. My
Grandpa bought 2 lots on Lake Huron in 1958; one is now
mine and the other is my cousins'. I have so many good
memories.

Speaking of my grandpa, he also collected driftwood but
not for art projects. Instead, planks were used for a
path across the upper beach. Smaller stuff was used for
beach fires.

Very nice and if I
ever get back UP
there, I’ll definitely
stop in grab a few
“Real” donuts. Not
those plastic ones
in the plastic bags
at the gas stations.

These pictures are so wonderful. You ladies have so
much fun. I don't have nearly the imagination or
talent that you gals have with your projects. I've
been blessed to be involved with some of your
things, but pale in comparison. You guys just keep
sharing your fun with us so we feel like we're
there. I love your little camping setup. So
inviting.

How awesome...and how much fun did they have! I
love those trees!

I don't typically do thimbleberries, but I think I
could do a donut! Great video~

Since the bakery is on the dock for the Isle Royale Queen IV ferry, they are a mainstay for delicious breakfast before departure, nearly every day of the summer.
