Jeff & Chris Dennis always find unique places and ways to enjoy their kayak adventures with Fritz usually leading the way. This might just be a first though, kayaking at Little Traverse Bay by lantern light. Jeff said it was a beautiful evening on Lake Superior a week ago, paddling along the shoreline with their lanterns leading the way and making sure they were visible for boaters and those on shore. Of course Fritz was in his usual spot on watch duty, probably in charge of looking for other boaters or maybe sharks and whales, too. What a fun way to safely enjoy dusk on the shores of the Big Lake.

Those lanterns remind me of when I was a kid and we used to rent a cabin out in Bootjack, they had kerosene lanterns hung on the walls. We actually still use one of several we have collected, when the power goes out.

Solo UP Northwoods shares a look at boating at her Upper Peninsula Cabin, featuring her inflatable Kayak, electric Pontoon, some loons and fish by the dock. The lanterns would help other boaters see them, but I
wouldn't guess that they give enough light to help
see where you're going.

Interesting watercraft in the video. I'd love to have
a lightweight easy-to-carry kayak, but I wonder how
well it works in the wind. We had a styrofoam hulled
sailboat that we brought up from downstate. But the
centerboard was not enough to stop the wind from
pushing the lightweight boat sideways.

I like the electric pontoon boat. Probably much
easier to start than an old outboard motor, which was
started by pulling on the cord. One reason I switched
to my electric lawnmower was because I don't need a
pull-cord to start it.

Those look like old school, kerosene lanterns.

If Fritz could get the old paw on the hip he'd be competing with the classic "Look-back with hand on hip".
