After a weekend of parades, games, music, dancing, fireworks and more, celebrating the 250th anniversary of America, I figured some calm, peaceful, serene scenes were in order. And who better to get them from, but Shannon over at 906 Images. He had just what the Pasty Cam editor ordered with these Lake Superior Sunset shots. Someone asked him how he creates the splashes and he said he throws rocks and then captures the splashes, the sprays and the splunks of the Big Lake. Brilliant, and I’m sure it must take some coordination to quickly snap the shots as the water is in midair.

But Shannon doesn’t only capture Superior sunsets, he shares a Lake Huron/Mackinac Island sunset in today’s video, with a view of the Mackinac Bridge off in the distance, too. Those small waves washing into the shore, make quite the soothing sounds, so make sure your volume is turned UP so you can take advantage of every sound.

I watched the Disney stuff most of the day, along
with my bud, Cinda..she has a huge TV, so that was
almost like you were there, and watched Macy's
fireworks, which were positively stunning!

Disney said they worked on the day for several
years, and it showed!

Wow! Absolutely beautiful! The 2nd one is my
favorite. I love how high the wave is. Amazing

Nice colors, peaceful as you say.

I got back from my cabin July 6 but didn't get on-
line til today. I wasn't able to have as much
beachtime as I'd hoped because the flies were out in
force. The wind from the south let 'em come out of
the woods. Later in the week the wind was off the
lake and they left.

My friends and I went to Mackinaw City on the 4th.
There weren't as many people as usual. The ferries to
Mackinac Island---now a monopoly---have raised
prices. We speculated if that caused a drop in
tourists. But there was also less highway traffic
going home. So maybe people just didn't feel they
could afford to buy gas fot a long trip.
