When it comes to sunsets and sunrises, there really isn’t a much better place than the shores of Lake Superior to watch them. Shannon, from over at 906 Images has a plethora of beauty for us here today, starting with the Sunset Splash. Some viewers commented that they could see a horse in that spray of water, while someone else mentioned that her first thought was whales, as they had just come back from Alaska. No matter what you see in the water there, it’s pure beauty!

The next shot, a stunning painted sky Sunset is so calming and magical and I love the reflection of the color on the rock over on the left. The third Sunset seems like its being swallowed UP by the clouds as it spreads a reflecting trail on Lake Superior.

Number four is a break from the sunsets, because it’s a Lake Superior sunrise at Presque Isle, snapped from the Black Rocks, those some billion year old rock formations in Marquette.

And, last but not least, a sunset from Presque Isle Cove with this reminder, that while the days are longer here in the U.P., you need to get out there and enjoy the beauty while you can.

Sunrise". In the video, I was caught up watching the
patterns of the waves.

Well...I had to go back and look, and oh
yes...there is a horse there!! What beautiful,
stunning pictures today. Just wow..And I noticed
the sun reflection in the second pic too...I peeked
at a couple of pics in Spaceweather today, and
there is one of a mirage taken in Italy that looks
almost identical to "enjoying the sunset", and
loved the vid...it's almost like your own tub in
the rocks. A really big tub....but...

Absolutely breathtaking photos. My favorite is
Sunset Splash. I don't know why, but it just speaks
to me. And the color of the water in that video is
just so beautiful.

Donna, I just caught the reference to a tub. Actually,
there is something called Bathtub Rock in Lake
Superior. It is offshore in Lake Superior Provincial
Park in Ontario. Water from the waves washes into a
depression on top, and gives you a bit warmer place to
get wet...of course you have to wade out, and back,
through regular temperature Lake Superior.
