Greg Carrier from Drone 5-0 Photography captured some really unique photos of the fog beginning to drift in and encompass the Marquette Lighthouse. Great shots with the Lighthouse shrouded and looking quite mysterious there on the point. I like how the fog is enveloping just the Lighthouse and you can plainly see the trees and area above and around the fog. These shots would make for a great mystery movie beginning... both eerie and spooky, yet fantastic all at the same time!

Last week, Friday we had a Fly-By of the Copper Harbor Lighthouse. Today we get a look at the Lake Superior Fog Invading Copper Harbor with In The Keweenaw. Lots of fog and flights on the Pasty Cam!

Outstanding shots. I love how fog makes everything
look so mysterious. Just cool. Love that video,
too.

Good morning all! Ghostly beauty all shrouded in
Superior fog, just gorgeous! The one time we visited
the Marquette Lighthouse it was misty and foggy
too, couldn’t see much from the catwalk.

Those fog banks are no joke though, we were on
a Shipwreck Cruise on Munising Bay and ran into
a thick one. Visibility went from clear to zero in no
time at all. Back in the day, imagine those conditions
resulted in many shipwrecks.

How awesome!

Hi
Interesting how the fog was only near the lighthouse;
my guess is that cold air from the lake was around it
on three sides.

Cindy, I've been on that cruise. The guide explained
that some were due to the water abruptly getting
shallower as they came into the bay. My vacation home
is near Cheboygan. There are a lot of lighthouses in
both Lake Huron and Lake Michigan in the Straits
area, because there are a lot of reefs and shoals.
Back in the day you needed to know exactly where you
were because you couldn't afford to go off course.

And that's why lighthouses also had foghorns.
